That's great to hear.  I assume it's working well for you?

Yes it is doing exactly what I wanted it to do. It'll be a real timesaver.

Thank you for moving it.

It is exactly what I was hoping for, so thanks again!

Please enjoy the donation.

I don't know if I should mark this thread solved or is that something you would do?

I gave it a try and it looks very good!

I would like to make a few suggestions/notes, none of which are a big deal.

It would be nice if the new Windows Explorer window opened in the same state as the original one.
In my case, I usually have the original window maximized because my vision isn't the greatest. The
newly created window opened in normal state rather than maximized. If it would be a hassle to copy
the state, it's not worth too much effort. If it was just as easy to open maximized instead of normal
sized, I would prefer that.

It would be nice if the original window was closed after the new subfolder was created. Currently it
left the original window open, so I manually close it. If you think some people would prefer the original
window stay open, maybe a checkbox could be added to the Create Subfolder dialog defaulting to
Close.

This is really nitpicking, but all my existing URL files are named Url.txt rather than URL.txt.
I can manually change the case, but if you could change it to Url.txt it would save me the extra step.

Thanks for the program,

Is there any progress on this or is what I asked not worth the effort it would require?
I am not sure how this procedure works.

How about..

Create Subfolder
6  DonationCoder.com Software / Finished Programs / Re: IDEA: Right-Click Menu Create Folder with Enhancements on: July 15, 2010, 07:46:13 PM
Yes I need to see the Explorer window because I also store the actual file(s) that I downloaded from the URL.
As an example I might download a freeware program such as AceMoney Lite.

The Url.txt file contains:

http://www.mechcad.net/

http://www.mechcad.net/pr...acemoney/index_lite.shtml

The actual software itself is saved as:

AceMoney Lite Ver 4.2.1 (AceMoneyLiteSetup).exe

This way I can check for updates, further documentation, etc.

Thanks

The current method leaves the original folder open, so I have to manually close it. The new folder isn't always located next to the original one because
other ones are open, so you have to be careful while closing it.

It also fails occasionally by not creating the subfolder in the selected top level folder. I didn't research it at the time, but I am guessing it
had something to do with path lengths or spaces in the folder structures. It works for the most part, but looks too DOS like. It's not a
big deal though.

Thank you for the reply.

Right-Click Menu Create Folder with Enhancements

I would like to have a new Windows Explorer right-click menu item that does the following:

Ask for the new folder name
Create that new folder under the current folder
Change to the newly created subfolder
Create an empty text file named Url.txt
Open the newly created empty text file with Notepad or the associated app for .txt files.

I copy and paste a website url into the empty text file and save it.

When I find new software I like, I save the file(s) as well as the url where I found it for
later reference.

This is a before and after folder-file listing to show what I mean.

Before:

C:\Top Folder\
  C:\Top Folder\Subfolder One\
    C:\Top Folder\Subfolder One\Url.txt

After:

C:\Top Folder\
  C:\Top Folder\Subfolder One\
    C:\Top Folder\Subfolder One\Url.txt
  C:\Top Folder\Subfolder Two\
    C:\Top Folder\Subfolder Two\Url.txt

I would right-click while in Top Folder and create the new Subfolder Two
with an empty Url.txt file opened in Notepad etc.

Currently I use a MS-DOS batch file within my Sendto folder to accomplish
this task, but it has a few drawbacks which the new software would cure.
This is my Batch file in case that will help.

C:\Documents and Settings\Userid\SendTo contains a shortcut to a batch file.

NewFold.bat

@echo off

:: The parameter %1 contains the path from the SendTo command
:: The For command extracts the Drive Letter (C:) from the path

Set Var=%1%
For %%i in ("%Var%") Do Set dl=%%~di

%dl%
cd %1

echo.
:folder
set folder=
set /P folder=Enter New Folder Name: %=%
if "%folder%"=="" goto folder

if not exist "%folder%" md "%folder%"

cd "%folder%"

start /max %SystemRoot%\explorer.exe /e,%Var%\%folder%

if not exist Url.txt copy nul Url.txt >nul
start /max notepad.exe Url.txt

Exit

My system is running Windows XP SP3.

I don't know if you did anything or I changed something on my end, but now it's working!

The only thing I can recall doing was uninstalling/reinstalling another freeware program called Yazak. It also requires installing the VB6 runtimes for itself. I also used DcUpdater and it showed I was running version 2.22.02 of URL Snooper and the web had version 2.22.01. I allowed DcUpdater to install the web version, but it still shows I am running Version 2.22.02.

Thank you for your help.

Ok Thanks alot.
11  DonationCoder.com Software / UrlSnooper / Re: Can't Enter License Key on: February 27, 2009, 07:26:08 AM
It seems to remain open until I access any menu item.I was attempting to enter the license key in order to stop the message. The same result occurs accessing the File menu though. The application ran long enough to capture 887 packets in the screen capture attached to my previous post. The moment I click on a menu item, it freezes up for a minute accepting no inputs and then just closes without any error message I could find.
12  DonationCoder.com Software / UrlSnooper / Re: Can't Enter License Key on: February 26, 2009, 10:04:46 PM
I renamed it as you suggested and it produced a couple of error messages about localization. The program started up next and displayed the message showing Automatic Network Adapter Detector was successful and waits for me to hit OK. It also displays the blue note saying obtain a license key. I visit the site to get the message to disappear.
This time it displayed a single URL in the results area. The moment I went to the menus, it froze again. It remains that way for several seconds and then shuts down without any error messages. I also cleared all the data in the Event Virewer before running it again. When it shutdown again, I checked the Event Viewer and no records showed. I am not sure if they are buffered and only appear later, but I thought I'd try looking there.

I just started the application again and opened a few web pages without touching the menus. The status line is showing it scanned 887 packets of internet traffic, so it works until I access the menus apparently.

Just FYI I renamed the file back after it didn't change the results.

I just copied the folder C:\Program Files\URLSnooper2 to the My Documents folder and it did the same thing.

I am not sure if this helps you at all, but I started up Wireshark Version 1.0.6 and it appears to work properly. They both use the WinPcap software, so I thought it may help you in some way. I am attaching a screen capture of the Wireshark Capture Interfaces.

As soon as I click on the File or Help menu in URL Snooper 2, it stops responding and shuts down after a few moments.
14  DonationCoder.com Software / ContextMenu Commander / Re: ContextMenu Commander on: February 25, 2009, 03:33:19 PM
I would like the ability to do something along these lines.

This would be one operation to perform this function which is currently done manually.

(1). Right-click to create a New Folder
(2). Change Directory to the New Folder
(3). Change the default view to "List" in the Windows Explorer toolbar.
(4). Right-click to create a New Text Document and backspace over the
"New Text Document.txt" to change it to "Url.txt".
(5). Double-click on "Url.txt" to open it with Notepad.

I copy the URL of the software into the "Url.txt" and store the downloaded
file into the New Folder.

Example of the Folder Structure.

C:\Arc\
  C:\Arc\Router Screen Capture\
    router_screen_capture_v1.0.5_setup.exe
    Url.txt
  C:\Arc\Simple Port Forwarding\
    simple_port_forwarding_v2.3.0_setup.exe
    Url.txt

It would create a new folder to add ContextMenu Commander and the Url.txt file.

  C:\Arc\ContextMenu Commander\
    contextmenu_commander.exe
    Url.txt

I would like to have a new right-click context menu entry to make the process as
easy as possible. The step to copy the URL of the software into the "Url.txt" and store the downloaded
file into the New Folder would still be done by hand.

I am running under an account with full Admin privileges. I install all software from this account which is probably a bad idea!

My network card is a Linksys LNE100TX(v5) Fast Ethernet Adapter.

The auto detect dialog showed it finding that. I am attaching a screenshot of that. Once I press OK, it allows me to hit the Help menu, then freezes up.

Just in case this matters, I am having trouble with the .NET framework. I contacted Microsoft XP Windows Update support, but they were unable to determine a solution. They suggested I go to .NET support, but I wasn't feeling well enough to write back and forth at the time.
16  DonationCoder.com Software / UrlSnooper / Re: Can't Enter License Key on: February 25, 2009, 12:45:22 PM
I don't see a file by that name in the C:\Program Files\URLSnooper2 folder or the subfolder C:\Program Files\URLSnooper2\workingdir.
17  DonationCoder.com Software / UrlSnooper / Can't Enter License Key on: February 25, 2009, 12:14:51 PM
I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling URL Snooper 2 Ver 2.22.02 several times and I can't get it to stay up long enough to enter the Help menu.

When it first started, it autodetected what appeared to be the correct device. I started the software again and it doesn't response when I click on the menu items. It hangs for a few seconds and proceeds to shutdown. It produces the license key message, but how can I enter it when it won't allow me into help?

I am attaching a screen capture.
