General Software Discussion / Re: CD Bank Cataloguer abandoned?
« on: June 15, 2009, 12:16 AM »
what we really need to know is which program out there will import the cdbank database.
esp important for many of us who've entered a ton of cd/dvds into the database, don't want to do that again.

furthermore, how safe are the alternative programs databases..how open to export/import by others are they?  makes you think twice about throwing in your lot with any of these programs if theres the risk of being abandoned and locked in.

CD Bank Cataloguer
http://www.qunomsoft.com/
there is development in alpha stage that can be downloaded

corrected website address
anyone using this one?

i won this program in a DC giveaway but for a long time it seemed that the software had become abandonware so i had to switch to another cataloguer. more details here: CD Bank Cataloguer abandoned?

thats just sad:(

i guess the question is whether any of these other catalog programs can import the cdbank database.  and how open are the other programs database/export/import functions.  it would suck to be locked into another programs database when that software becomes abandonware as well.  sometimes even open source is abandoned.  perhaps thats an issue with this area of software, no standard format for a database.
