FARR Plugins and Aliases / Re: Using an Alias on a plugin
« on: September 01, 2020, 03:29 PM »
Thank you! This is a good stop-gap.

I suspect it's a bug with FARR not the plugin, as I imagine FARR's the one that handles the alias.

FARR Plugins and Aliases / Using an Alias on a plugin

I'm trying to set a custom alias (tilde) on this plugin, but it doesn't save when I close this dialog or work. I tried with other characters and it still doesn't work.

I'm using the latest version of FARR v2.239.03. Am I doing something wrong or is it a bug?

Applying to whatever's in the clipboard would be really useful.

Thanks mouser! That worked.

However there's a 1-2 second delay when I use the preset, which is just one string replace. The regular paste and everything else works fine. I'm on Windows 10/i5/16GB RAM if that matters.

I have preset that I'd like to apply on all pastes. Is this possible to apply it as a default? Or alternatively, is it possible to have a shortcut to directly use a preset. Looks like someone asked for something similar a long time ago, but I am not sure if anything came out of it.

Thanks for your great work, mouser!

Probably so - I'm guessing they share a good part of the code.

Clipboard Help+Spell / CHS is unusable on High DPI Screens
« on: July 29, 2015, 07:05 PM »
I just installed CHS on my Sony FIT 15A which has a screen resolution of 2880x1620. I have the scaling set to 150%. I'm running Windows 10, but I suspect that this is not a Windows 10 issue, but a DPI one. The options dialog is too miniscule to read.

Find And Run Robot / Re: Settings not being saved

I tried starting FARR as administrator, changed the skin and closed it. Ran it again. This time the setting was saved.

A workaround would be to start FARR from scheduled tasks as administrator, so it doesn't require you to approve running the program. You have to check "Run with highest priveleges" to make it run as administrator. I just tried this and it seems to work. I set the trigger to start 15 seconds after login. The delay is not necessary, but should help general boot time a bit.

I'm looking forward to the new build.

Removed the portable flag. Copied over the FindAndRunRobot.ini file from my older Vista (which had UAC off) hard drive to C:\Configs\Farr and changed the values manually. It reads from that file correctly, but does not write to it.

I tried ProcMon with the WriteFile Operation enabled and I don't see FARR trying to write anything. Perhaps, I'm missing something in my ProcMon settings, but I'm willing to try any suggestions.

Tried the portable flag. I gave "Authorized user" full control, but still does not save settings.

I zapped the config directory and I think that's fixed the problem with the missing disk. I don't see that dialog anymore.

Any ideas on the configuration not saving problem?

Sorry for being away for so long. Family visiting.

Mouser, to answer your questions:
- No settings are being saved
- I don't see a FindAndRunRobot.ini file in C:\configs\farr, but I do see a FindAndRunRobot.ini.tmp

Also, a new annoyance: I get a dialog box when I start FARR:
---------------------------
Advanced Options: FindAndRunRobot.exe - No Disk
---------------------------
There is no disk in the drive. Please insert a disk into drive Z:.
---------------------------
Cancel   Try Again   Continue
---------------------------

I had a network path mapped to Z once, but no longer. I can't remember configuring FARR to do anything with that drive though.

I found ConfigDir.ini in "C:\Program Files (x86)\FindAndRunRobot". I opened it and added this line:

CONFIGDIR = c:\configs\farr

Restarted FARR. I saw that it created files and directories in the above directory. I changed the skin. Restarted FARR. It still opens with the default skin. I set the security setting to allow full control for all authenticated users, and restarted FARR, and still the same problem.

I am using Windows 7 x64.

Forgive me if this is not the right place to ask this.

I've been a long time user and can't live without FARR. I recently moved to Windows 7 and I notice that FARR is not saving my settings. When I restart FARR or Windows, it reverts to the default settings. I have the latest 2.90.02, which also seems a little odd, because the the version on the web is 2.90.01 in DcUpdater.

Is there a way to change the background color in FARR? I'd like to have a white text on a black background?

I really like Rename-It. It's quick and very clean. It's open source but no updates for a while and has some problems with Vista.
