You might want to try DeskSave. I have not tried it on Windows 7 however, but I have used it for quite awhile and have had no issues with it.

I'm surprised your batteries died so quickly, Renegade. I have used an MX Revolution for a couple years and I love it. The batteries last about a week if I don't charge it before then and I typically use it probably 5-6 hours a day.

I also have a VX Revolution I use at work and the batteries in it last several months, using it well over 40 hours a week there and I'm using it constantly when in my office. I think I like the VX model more than any mouse I have ever used and I have used a lot.

I was wanting another VX Revolution since I like it so well so I just bought what appears to be the next generation of it, the Logitech M705 Marathon Mouse. I'm using it on my home desktop now and so far after having it about 4 days I am very pleased with it as well. They advertise that the batteries in it should last 3 years! We'll see about that.

I am particularly fond of the hyper-scrolling on all of the mice I mention above. I loved it from the first day I used the MX Revolution and I think I will regret ever using anything that does not have it now.

I also prefer Logitech models over others I have used. I have used some Microsoft mice but I really prefer the Logitech models over them. I don't think I'd ever be happy going back to a wired mouse since I have used wireless for so long now.

Interesting reading here though on everyone's preferences.

This app does look to be very useful, I'm anxious to try it out. I use AutoHotKey now to define some hotkeys to replace text I use often and this looks like a much better solution to that for me. Thanks timns for your hard work on this.

I do LOTS of folder synchronization between numerous machines and USB devices and my tool of choice is Beyond Compare . I also use SyncBack Pro alot but for a fast simple sync of a few folders between two machines or a USB device and a PC, I usually just use Beyond Compare. Works great for me.

If I am interpreting what you wish to do correctly, the script that skwire posted above will do exactly what you wish... hit k, release it then hit j and it will sent Ctrl-Alt-F4. Substitute {Delete} for {F4} and it wll send Ctrl-Alt-Delete if you hit k and then j. I would use a sequence like kkk though, as it's easier to send and a legitimate word containing kkk which would trigger your hotkey is less likely to occur.

Not sure what you're trying to send by pressing the keys, but something like this works:

Code: Autohotkey [Select]

1. :R*?:ttt::
2. FormatTime, CurrentDateTime,, HH:mm
3. SendInput %CurrentDateTime%
4. return

Pressing the "t" 3 times sends the current time in HH:mm format

To send a text string, this works:

Code: Autohotkey [Select]

1. :R*?:ppp::
2. SendInput This is my string of text
3. return

Typing "p" 3 times sends This is my string of text

Might try something along those lines if it will work for you. I use the ones above and others similar all the time to save me time with commonly typed text, etc. Note that I have them set to send after 3 keypresses as hardly any words I will ever type contain 3 of those letters in succession.

As a user of several notekeeping apps, I like this one, may even purchase it. One thing I do need in whichever app I use to organize all my notes is strikethrough text however. I cannot find it with AllMyNotes. Is it there or can it be added? That's the biggest thing keeping me from buying it right now. Thanks and very nice app MetaRoot!

I've been using the Sandisk Cruzer U3 drives for a few years and I have had no issues with them, and they don't have a cap. They slide in and out of the case. I like the U3 application as well. I have 3 4 gig Cruzers now and I am adding an 8 gig Cruzer to my arsenal real soon.

CompUSA to close all stores

CompUSA has been sold and will close all of its stores after the holidays. I have purchased many items there at our local store and am not pleased to hear about their closing. I have never had any problems with anything in dealing with them and they are a great resource for everything "PC" in my area. I will watch for some great closeout specials at our store.

My Maxtor Basics Personal Solutions 3200 is a USB external drive. It did not require formatting and actually I never thought about that before using it. They may make the same model in an internal drive but I don't know if they do or not.

I've got one of the 3200's that I bought in September. So far no problems with it. It's actually a very nice and fast drive. I've ran a few virus scans on it per the Seagate website and it appears to be clean, so I think I got a good one.

I agree with nitrix-ud and thomthowolf also. I have been using FARR 2 for a few months now and it works fine with no problems on my end using it. It is a truly amazing program. Don't hesitate to try it out. You too will be amazed.

I don't know if you can use a flash drive to run an editor, but I have used EasyHTML on a flash drive a lot in situations where I cannot install an editor. It appears development has stopped on it but it has worked well for me.

Looks like they drastically raised their price or something on this. Their site now shows it to cost $14.95 Euro and $19.95 USD. I was real interested in their ScreenInk app too last week when I saw that and went back to investigate getting both and Whoa!

I got a new PC with the Vista OS in mid-May. I tried several different firewalls trying to find one that worked well for me and that I liked the functions and user interface. I have used ZoneAlarm on several PC's for quite some time and have been happy and problem-free with it, but it was not available for Vista yet. My Vista machine came with a McAfee firewall which soon started throwing up various error messages and I've never been a big McAfee fan so I started looking at others. I tried Norton 360 for awhile and it worked very well, but I did not like the user interface for it at all for some reason and it was expensive, or so I thought.

As I didn't really liked the interface, I kept looking and tried the PCTools Firewall from pctools.com for awhile. I liked it okay too and it is freeware, but I had an ongoing problem with it and connecting to a wireless network printer I use alot and I never actually got that resolved. For some reason, that product seems to have disappeared from their website now, so I don't know if they have discontinued it or what happened there.

I looked at several others in the meantime and was willing to pay a premium price for one if I could find one that worked well with features and an interface that I liked for it. I kept up with the ZoneAlarm site and they released their Vista ready version so I decided to try it. In looking at their support forum, there are lots of users that have many issues with using ZoneLabs products, but I have never had any of those problems myself. I downloaded their latest free version for Vista and installed it problem-free about 3 weeks. It has been smooth sailing for me with it ever since and I'm happy now since I'm back to using a firewall I'm familiar with and one that has always worked well for me. Despite seeing alot of negative things posted about ZoneAlarm in several places, it has and still does work very well for me. I'm happy with it on my Vista machine and have had no issues of any kind with it.
