Find And Run Robot / Why FARR is using this weird link

I'm not sure if this normal behaviour but it is weird FARR keep pointing to the installer instead of pointing to the program executable in program files?

hmm.. link down?

I would be the same just as if FARR ability to search LBC shortcuts :P

Another twist is to have the "dock" menu auto populated by FARR base on launch frequency + score weight. The categories may be base on filetypes or tags?

Find And Run Robot / Re: FARR searching LBC shortcut

Hi mouser, both idea are great but if you choose LBC to mirror shortcut will it be in real time, when I add new shortcut it will be automatically mirrored? I would prefer that over FARR plugins since I can search from FARR like usual and save a few keystroke :) maybe just add the mirror shortcut folder to FARR search directory!

Find And Run Robot / FARR searching LBC shortcut
« on: May 18, 2011, 09:23 PM »
Hi. I always have FARR and LBC run side by side because they both serve different purpose but I want to know is it possible to make FARR search LBC shortcut?

Because normally I'd use FARR for launching normal installed software sit in start menu/desktop/program files but I also have some standalone software which sit on different partition on my hard which make it ineffective for FARR to search them and I have them in LBC.

Sometimes when when I'm in keyboard mode it is easier to just search from FARR than to reach for my mouse :)

I try to look at LBC save file but it not normal text file.. I don't know how to read/extract data from those .mcf file..

Thx

Any chance this idea getting implemented?  :D

FlashFolder has this feature but it only supports windows explorer and total commander plus it's not being actively developed. however i use it daily and haven't run into any problems.

outside the realms of file dialog extenders, you might be interested in RecentX.

Did FlashFolder  work with Win7 64bit? Thx

mouser, this a bit off topic but is it possible to make LBC to properly display an alpha transparent icon?

yeah it doesnt make much sense to combine noborder with hiding (though it can be done).
i'm glad to hear the border issue is solved.. that one plagued me for a long time, i'm very happy to have solved it.  :D

Glad you made it.. It is hard to solve that border thing?

Find And Run Robot / Re: FARR not saving history anymore..
« on: January 13, 2009, 09:15 AM »
I guess that solve the problem.. so far I tried to launch couple of apps and all appear in the list.

But I guess turning off history score in heuristic is not a good idea because it help me if I really do search and not just relaunching recent apps.

Then I guess that really the reason. Is there any way I can turn of that feature?

hmm.. shouldn't the history list is for most recent launch only & not related to history score?

so my max history is only 9.. so I just can launch them using numpad. Did you think this bug related to this setting?

make sure you have settings similar to these: (see attachment in previous post)If your's are different -- how?  the history scores option, if not checked, could cause the behavior you are talking about.

One thing you could do is go to the "Launch History" tab and clearing the contents..

ps. make a copy of your settings ini file so you can always restore it if you do something bad to it.

What is [ ERROR: SPECIFIED ATTACHMENT MISSING ] ?

Maybe this one related to my suggestion?

The problem still there. The reason I never try uninstall/delete setting file is because I am too lazy to reconfigure FARR to my preference again  ;D

23
ok fair enough, i will add to todo list.

Thanks mouser!!   :-*

Actually I want to request this long time ago but I always forget  ;D

Search as you type/ incremental search indeed one of the most important feature of FARR as I think it need to be improve.

[attachimg=#1][/attachimg]

I would like if FARR can implement incremental search as Locate offer.

Here is some few reason.

1. Delay: Search with each character put unnecessary work on the machine for quick typist. Eg. You want to find a program that will require at least 5 characters to give relevant result. So if FARR start searching on each keystroke then it put unnecessary strain on the machine.

2. Minimum character: Nearly the same as above reason there is no point for FARR to search for one character only that surely will give too many result and maybe too many unwanted result also. So if FARR start searching from 2nd or 3rd character will be much better & efficient.

3. The reason of above reason is I always find FARR in "hanging state" where you type something really fast and it will took a few second until it appear on the search box.

*hopefully someone can understand my english*

Thanks a lot mouser. Take your time, nothing to rush. LBC already did too many good thing compared to this minor bug.

I still can live with it  ;D ;D
