GigaTribe is cool new software that allows you to share specific folders on your computer with friends & family located anywhere there is an internet connection...and it's FREE!

Basically, you allow friends to access specific folders (and therefore files) on your computer which you've chosen to share. They can therefore download files onto their computer and you can do the same from the folders on their computer that they're willing to share. You can even use GigaTribe to access your computer from a remote location (work, etc...).

It's 100% safe (128-bit blowfish encryption, no spyware/adware), you can transfer huge files (no-limit) and it's easy to set up. Furthermore, all exchanges are encrypted, so even your ISP will have no way of knowing what you're exchanging with friends. For more info or to download free GigaTribe, go to http://www.gigatribe.com. I'm open to any feedback or questions you may have, just shoot me an email at john at gigatribe dot com.

I've been using Gigatribe since December, but just checked out Foddershare out of curiosity...foldershare seems to be more about synchronizing folders between people (ie. you add an mp3 to your folder, it will add itself to your friend's folder as well); also, it's a Microsoft product that seems more geared towards the needs of professionals. GigaTribe is neat because you can exchange huge files and even entire folders with friends, and even the free version is highly functional. Most of my friends are on the free version, and we appreciate the fact that all exchanges are encrypted. I also use Gigatribe to access my PC from remote locations.
