Have you tried to take ownership of the C:\windows\system32 folder? You may have a permissions error. Also, try to make sure the file in question is not set in read-only mode.

Is this your computer, or a work computer? Are you on an ADMIN account, or a user account?

The copy you have is probably the right one. The PRF file is located in the C:\windows\sysWOW64 dir, not in the c:\Windows\system32 directory.

EDIT: So basically what I did what was copy the MAYA_PE_PRESETS, the MAYA_PE_DOCS, the .pref file, the Maya Paint Effects.SCR, and the TweakMPE.scr files into both the system32 and the sysWOW64 folders. I also have .NET installed.

Seems to work.

EDIT2: So all I am getting with the TweakMPE screensaver is basically one Paint Effects preset. Not sure why it is not seeing the others.....

I found the file TweakMPE.rar by Google searching the original domain and then adding the rest of the URL onto it.

Still there, all these years later.
