...I'll post an update here if I can figure out what it is.

Well, that's embarassing. Turns out something was wrong with the *.ico file associations in my profile. I don't know what exactly fixed the issue, but I reset/deleted several different things and all is fine now. Sorry about the bother.

can you give me a tip for fixing Region?

When I set the winvermin to 6.1 (as opposed to 6.3), it starts working for me. Dunno if it would break anything for other people though.

Region | %windir%\system32\control.exe international /ICON=Region.ico /winvermin=6.1 /winvermax=6.3

...It may simply be that it copies the alias but the icons aren't in the new alias directory so they aren't being found.

Ding! That was exactly the case with my test profile. Everything was working after I copied all icons to [Documents]\DonationCoder\FindAndRunRobot\AliasGroups\MyCustom

"Quick Search Words"

Well, that's a much cleaner solution now, isn't it?  :-[

I still will need to use a custom alias for the time being though, because at least one of the cpanel aliases is not updated to show up on Win10 (namely, "Region").

Strange, testing it on a vmware windows 10, the cpanel alias icons all showed fine..

I went ahead and switched to a brand new windows user profile and sure enough, cpanel icons are working nicely in there. So it looks like something about icon associations is kinda borked on my main account. I'll post an update here if I can figure out what it is.

One other thing I noticed though: In the new profile, I created a duplicate copy of cpanel in myaliases and named it "cp". (I also do this on my main account to save keystrokes.) Afterwards, the real "cpanel" aliases were still working ok, but the custom alias "cp" all showed a generic icon. This generic icon was different from the one shown in my main profile, so it's entirely possible this too is caused by something borked on my end.

Lastly, deleting the DonationCoder directory in MyDocuments and starting over with a clean setup did not change anything, so it's most probably due to some other Windows setting on my user profile.

Anyway, thank you for your time.

I too would love this feature!

I have long been using the Chocolatey setup (latest stable).

Today I figured something could be wrong with that package so I uninstalled it and installed the version you posted at the top of this thread. (2.233.01 beta. Not portable)

Icons look like they're where they're supposed to be (I have "C:\Program Files (x86)\FindAndRunRobot\AliasGroups\Installed\cpanel\Region.ico" and all its friends).

Switching to large icons and clearing Windows icon cache did not help. Not using any font overrides.

So you say it happens with all of the alias icons on windows 10??

Yes, that has been my experience. As I said, I don't use the majority of built-in aliases and most of them don't even have icon definitions, but the ones I tested all show up like this.

I have another installation on Win8 but I have gotten so used to broken icons due to the Control Panel weirdness that I honestly don't remember if the situation is different on that computer. I can report back later if you like.

Thank you for not abandoning my favorite piece of software, Mouser. Since you broke cover and stepped into the crossfire, it's only fair that we should pelt you with bug reports and complaints.  :P

A minor snag: cpanel aliases (actually, all aliases, but that is the only one I use) don't seem to display icons on my Windows 10 system.

When I peek with Process Monitor, I see that FARR is trying to access the whole alias definition as if it were an actual *.ico path.

No rush, just FYI.  :D Thanks again.
