There's this tutorial in Kodi. I'm too much of a noob to follow it though :P

The tutorial shows how to write an XML file which tells Kodi how to display the view described in the XML file.  The problem is that the XML is not code, per se.  It's a markup language.  That is, that XML file is not going to determine what Kodi displays when you press the back button.  That's handled within the actual codebase that powers Kodi .  In other words, you would need to either modify the Kodi codebase to do what you want or find a setting within Kodi that enables the behaviour you seek.  Does that make sense?

Now, that being said, I use Kodi and navigating back through various folders, etc, brings me back to the previously selected folder.  Of course, I might be misunderstanding you.

Thanks S. Without enough info who wouldn't misunderstand me? The case I'm talking about is when you're looking at a list of movies and you click on a title to see further info. When you click back you go back to the beginning of the list of titles. It's a drag when you have a lot of titles just in alphabetical order. As to the first part of your explanation - yes, that does make sense. Does that also affect the ability to dispaly a title list in columns or is that a different problem? I'd like to diplay in columns as it would make scanning through a list easier.
Thanks again for your response and to anyone else who's watching.

Post New Requests Here / Code to add a ViewType in Kodi Krypton

Is there anyone here who could help me by writing the code to:
create a two or three column list view and
code which would act as a placeholder i.e. to return to the same point in a list rather than the default which is to return to the beginning of the list. There's this tutorial in Kodi. I'm too much of a noob to follow it though :P
Thanks in advance

Post New Requests Here / Re: Auto Re-size Tables (MS Word)
« on: November 17, 2016, 05:51 PM »
Using Word 2010. In the example you attached to your previous post I was able to drag the borders of the table out further. When I was playing with a copy that I had created I set the margins to 5 mm which seemed to work OK on the printer I'm using. Essentially I'm attempting to get the to tables to fit on a piece of A5 paper and be as big as possible whilst still fitting on the page.
Perhaps, now that you have alerted me to the possibility of using macros, I could just have a go on my own. I'm sure that there are macro tutorials available. It may even be possible to create a macro for the whole process - from creating the PDF, converting to Word, reformatting, etc?

Hello Target,
No, I don't know how to use macros in Word. I'm familiar with the concept in that I understand what a macro can do, but that's the extent of my knowledge. I'll have to do some study. Could you just explain how to trigger the macro perhaps? Just to get me started. The layout you've done could be a little bigger and I'd make the numerals size 9.

Thank you,
Clive

OK - long story now  :) The original games are in java (jCodeword)and meant to be played on a device e.g. PC. My partner (Margaret) prefers to play on paper. The game outputs to PDF which I can convert to Word. They're too small to be used comfortably which is why I want to re-size (enlarge them) before printing to paper. As a housebound person Margaret will do 3 or 4 (min) of these a day to help while away her time. So, I'm talking big numbers over the course of a year. I've uploaded a copy to my Google Drive here for you to have a look at.

Thank you

Thank you SJ. I wasn't clear in my first post. I wanted everything (including font changes) to be automated so that I can batch convert any number of puzzles at once.

I have many tables (codeword puzzles) which I'd like to re-size to fill an A5 page (1/ page) . Currently the tables are too small and whilst I know how to re-size them one at a time that process becomes tedious and time consuming when you want to do many of them. Also, I'd like to increase the size of the numerals and make them bold. If this is'nt suitable for a snack any tips on how I could do this myself would be appreciated.
Thank you

Living Room / Re: Re: Autobackup with OneDrive
« on: June 20, 2016, 06:21 PM »
do I need that dedicated drive? can't I just specify to back up in onedrive disk directly?

that would be a sync of your files as opposed to a proper backup (but I dunno, does OneDrive do versioning?)

The way Clive is describing is doing backup -- with versioning of files, and that all then gets backed up to onedrive.
That's the way I do backup myself from my desktop:
backup to a second internal harddrive -- that all then gets backed up online and to external HD.

Obvious advantage is a better 'proper' backup, disadvantage is increased size of backup.

Yadis does the versioning, I don't need OneDrive to do the versioning
I cannot use second drive, I only have laptop
And can anyone explain me what is the purpose of the second drive really? I don't understand, as I said Yadis is supposed to send the files to the cloud versioned
I don't want to hold a local backup, I only need the cloud
I use Onedrive as a third level of backup i.e. the last resort if all other backups fail. (That isn't what a lot of people use cloud storage for - they want access to their files no matter where they are, but there's only one version of that file if you like). If, like me, you only need backup and are prepared to forgo versioning then you could create a partition on your laptop which you assign to Onedrive and where you store all of your files. I believe that would be the closest to what you are trying to do

Hello Kalos,
Here's my solution:
1) I have a dedicated hard drive which I have configured as the OneDrive destination. Go here  to see how to do it
2) I use backup software called Yadis which backs up my My Documents partition to the OneDrive HDD. It backs up in real time and has versioning.
3) OneDrive then backs up to my cloud storage

Hope that helps

Living Room / Re: which phone?
« on: December 16, 2014, 10:59 PM »
If you're used to the "old" Windows phones i.e. anything up to 6.5 then you might be disappointed by the way MS has removed much of the functionality you'd be used to. I'm referring here to capabilities such as syncing to your PC (in particular email, calendar, contacts). These functions have gradually been removed since iteration 7. If you use a phone as a phone and a PIM (rather than an entertainment device) then I'd say go for Android. I have a Lumia 520 and for a lower price range phone it's acceptable and does what it sets out to do OK, but after using earlier Windows phones I'm very disappointed with this one. Also the apps no longer seem to be of the quality which was available for the older OS. The other thing which annoys me about all the major stores is the way you can't really do refined searches and 99% of free apps come with ads or limitations which the vendors don't reveal until after you've installed the app.

Could someone clarify for the dumb end user aka me.
Are VPNs useful for doing banking in public hot spots?

Thanks

I'll be giving this a try for sure. Something I've often longed for is the ability to use OneNote in my favorite browser (Opera). Is this possible?

Thanks,

Thanks Kip. Sorry I've taken a while to respond. Appreciate your suggestion. DarkScreen & other apps at this site were most helpful.

I've been doing this for my partner (migraine sufferer) & I didn't quite understand what she wanted. Which was to simply dim the whole screen. So now I'm using DeskTop Lighter. Apart from not being able to return to the default (calibrated) setting it fits the bill. Thanks everyone for your support.

Thanks for taking the time to point this solution out. I gave it a whirl & it doesn't seem to have the ability to adjust "opening size" on the fly so not so good for my needs.

That looks promising. Is it possible to set hot keys to activate & deactivate?
Thanks for pointing this one out.

Am after something which will allow me to mask all of a screen except for the part (define-able area) needing to be read. Would be good if transparency adjustment was included along with a color picker. I have tried Zorro and found it buggy on my Win7 system.
Not sure if this will be a simple task. No programming knowledge so apologies in advance if this doesn't fit here. Thanks in advance to anyone out there tempted by this idea.

Hi Everyone,
I'm trying to find a PPC compatible version of Skype. My PDA runs Win CE 4.20. The downloads I've found are for more recent versions of Windows Mobile. If anyone can help I'd be very grateful.

Thanks,
Clive

Here in Australia most public 'puters are set up with limited rights i.e. not admin so you can't actually launch apps from a usb. Similar in the USA /Europe?
