The least expensive one is a Broderbund product powered by Virtual Mechanics. I doubt the product is identical to the one sold directly by Virtual Mechanics, it may be based on an older version with fewer features.

I also had Windows 7 and followed the prompts to upgrade to Windows 10, once upgraded and activated I performed a clean install of Windows 10 on a different drive skipping any prompts to enter my Windows 10 key (which I don't know). My copy of Windows automatically activated after I connected to the internet wirelessly and without entering a key or providing my email or any personal information.  As michaelkenward stated looks like once your machine is activated Microsoft stores your PC's "fingerprint" on their activation servers and will automatically activate Windows on the same machine.  That same day I tried a clean install of Windows 10 in a different language and it also activated automatically after I connected to the internet.

General Software Discussion / Re: Removing images when printing?
« on: March 29, 2015, 08:03 PM »
For web pages I often use a browser extension from PrintFriendly as it allows me to easily remove images and other parts of the page, the end result is printer friendly. You can also save the edited page as a pdf file.

I will take one, please. I have an older version.

For this I often use PrintFriendly (http://www.printfriendly.com/), it allows you to clean and format web pages before you save page as PDF (You can also print or email the page). URL links are also preserved which is something I wanted.

A print option would also be nice to have.

General Software Discussion / Re: right click to print a file?
« on: April 29, 2011, 09:11 PM »
Using worstje's idea: make a batch file with the following line:  notepad.exe /p %1
Now drag the text file to the batch file and it will send it to the default printer, don't know about your preferred font and size but maybe it can be tweaked a little more.

I recently heard something similar to what you describe, it is likely after KB2464588 patch was installed.  Search "powerpoint corrupt april 2011" for more info.

Care for something stronger? Do a search for "350 lb Rare Earth Neodymium Magnet w Hook". This is some powerful stuff so be sure to read the warnings if you get one.
I found a listing here:

Neodymium magnets are very cool! Got my last set from ebay and they were 1/4 inch cylinders which makes them fairly easy to handle and not too strong to pull away. You can also get push pin magnets which are neodymium magnets attached to plastic pins.

Living Room / Re: lap top cooling pad
« on: August 14, 2010, 11:09 AM »
Before investing in a cooling pad you may first want to find the root cause of the overheating, after time dust can build up on the cooling fan and vents raising the system temperature.  With most laptops you should be able to use a can of compressed air to blow off most of the dust without opening the laptop.  Keeping your work area clean and/or the laptop raised will also lessen the amount of dust that will get sucked into the system over time.

UrlSnooper / Re: Web Installers (getting download details)
« on: June 28, 2010, 09:17 AM »
To see where files are being downloaded to you could use SandBoxie. Run the web installer with Sandboxie making sure you start with an empty sandbox, then explore the contents of the sandbox during installation or afterwards.

Arachnophilia is still around and is now written in Java, it was last updated on 10/2009.  I have never used it but remember its name from many years ago.

When you hit the unsubscribe link in their email you will be taken to their "Service Letter Management" page where you can make changes to your subscriptions including the frequency of the emails.

Tried that. Didn't work. It got to the point I had their "Service Letter Management" page memorized & could probably navigate it blindfolded. The emails just...would...not...stop.

EDIT: Oh...looks like I have a "kill on the server" filter in my email program for their stupid newsletters. Maybe they never stopped and they're *still* coming. Whatever...at least I don't have to lay eyes on one ever again.

After unsubscribing to all their newsletters a week ago I received an automated confirmation email titled "You canceled the Ashampoo Newsletter" and so far I believe I have not received any more of their emails.  I have no idea why this process is not working for some people but I am glad it did for me because it seems like I was getting their emails almost every day...

Search for a Molex to SATA power adapter cable online or at a local store.

If I recall correctly with Ultraiso you can open an ISO, add/delete files and then save the ISO or burn it on-the-fly without making changes to the original. I have never tried to recompile it or burn it into a different media size. I believe the bootable property is preserved.

General Software Discussion / Re: PDF on my website/fill-in?

You could try CutePDF Pro, it seems to be able to do what you need and is very inexpensive.  http://www.cutepdf.com

You don't need an online account as this product only works on private networks like your home network or your work network. When installation completes a configuration page opens up and this is where you can specify the group you want to join, the group password, the broadcast port and communications port (or just accept the defaults).

Simidude - Drag and Drop ANYTHING Between Different Computers. Simidude lets you drag and drop files, folders, text, and web addresses between any of your computers, no matter if they’re running Linux, Windows, or MacOS X

BitsduJour has Simidude for $9.95 (reg. $35) on April 05, 2009

http://www.bitsdujour.com/software/simidude/

I tried the software after seeing it listed on BitsduJour, pretty useful if you have more than one PC at home/work and want to easily share clipboard, URLs, files, etc. I no longer have to use a portable drive between machines or use email to share links or files.  It also works with Virtual Machines. A single license covers all machines in a cluster which I think is very generous from the author.

Here is a link to their site:

I guess in the end it depends on each store. You could also check on eBay...

I just checked and can confirm that Newegg still takes PayPal, on the payment screen I see the following options: Credit Card, Paypal, Mail Payment. I received my download link and serial number the day after placing the order.
