N.A.N.Y. 2017 / Re: Fast access to files & folders by Selection Table
« on: September 08, 2017, 07:02 PM »
Query:  "goes below my windows task bar because i have three heights bar"

I cant understand what is happening here??
Does it occur with other shortcuts pinned to the Taskbar?
Did you use the shortcut created on the desktop during "Install" process, or create your own shortcut?

Official Announcements / Re: NANY 2017 Wrap-Up
« on: January 05, 2017, 10:23 AM »
I noticed in earlier newsletters that an application: QuickJump 2016 by CJ Gingerich, was going to be submitted  in this year's N.A.N.Y. that failed to materialise by the finish.

I had written a similar application some months earlier, which included a few extra features.
I have since modified my program, "Tbl_Select", to operate in a broadly similar fashion, and it can be downloaded from:

   http://twm.dcmembers.com/

Brief Description:

The program produces a Table which lists files, shortcuts or directories, from which a selection can be made, name or path copied, or Properties inspected. The displayed folder can also be passed via command line.
A Table Entry can be Run by a "Double-Click" on an entry, or selecting entry and pressing "Enter".
A home directory path is provided, and a menu of alternative paths can also be shown, where a path is passed using shortcuts.
A separate list of Sub-folders of the current folder can also be displayed and a selection made.
A filter for file selection based on extension is also provided, and two sort modes are available.
A folder Window can also be created from the displayed list.

If a shortcut to the program is pinned to the taskbar, numerous shortcuts can be available without taking space from  the taskbar.

I tried substituting Filename again - same result. Then I noticed the missing %%.
Works beautifully now.

Many thanks for suggesting 2nd attempt!

5
I did have a try at substituting actual filename using FileGetShortcut, but I got left with the same icon throughout the list.
maybe I did it wrong?
I can have another go.
I was thinking that a MOD of line:
        if not DllCall("Shell32\SHGetFileInfoA", "str", FileName, "uint", 0, "str", sfi, "uint", sfi_size, "uint", 0x101)  ; 0x101 is SHGFI_ICON+SHGFI_SMALLICON

might be required.

6
In order to unclutter pinned apps on the taskbar, I coded a simple and useful little
program with Autohotkey v. 1.0.48.05, that uses a Listview.
Can anyone suggest a coding MOD to display Listview icons that are NOT obscured by the
shortcut arrow overlay when .Lnk files are displayed.
(I have tried to remove the arrow overlay using "XdN Tweaker.exe" or
"Ultimate Windows Tweaker.exe" but these only work on Desktop icons).

I used the normal coding as given in Autohotkey Help (2003-2009 Chris Mallett).
There must surely be a way as pinned programs and links in Start Menu do not show
these arrows.
Does anyone know how this can be done??

I have just written 2 programs to address following problem:
FileDate_Order (& WinFileSequ) facilitates the ordering of icons in desktop folders on Windows 7/ (and Vista) when the window is set to order by Modification Time (descending).

Windows 7/ does not allow normal re-positioning of icons in a desktop Window, by simply dragging icons from one position to another, - A feature available in every previous version of Windows!.
Since it is MUCH easier to locate icons quickly within large desktop folders, if they are ordered by function and personal preference, I find this utility (containing 2 programs) is extremely useful.

The program can automatically SEQUENCE the Date/Time stamp for each file (icon) in a Window.
The program facilitates icon placement (i.e. moving icons), also offers substitution of link files for sub-directories, and can insert "Space" links for blank positions.

The program can also create "LOG" files (recording files & modification date/times) for each Window to allow fast export. Importing from LOG file will amend file-dates for all icons and reset icon order.

Last update (Drag&Drop to Viewer now implemented) completed 28/09/14
If anyone out there can suggest improvements to function of ahk program, it would be very welcome!

Available for download at: http://twm.dcmembers.com/

Modified  on 12/01/15: Both programs should cope with screen resolutions: (Aspect ratio 3 X 4)
1024 X 768, 1152 X 864, 1280 X 1024, with normal dpi (96 dots per inch) or
increased type size: 125% & 150%.

Also available on that site is CLIPSTAC program, much improved and more powerful than original modified Clipstep program. It now combines 2 Clipboard extension Apps, which work well together.
This one works well (so far). It now Auto-configures itself, and includes detailed help file ( & Rt-click hints on buttons etc). Any thoughts would be welcome.
It can also be downloaded from: http://twm.dcmembers.com

To FSL

Sorry about delay getting back on this topic
I Tried IconRestorer which works well for Desktop icons.
My problem was that to keep Desktop uncluttered, most program icons grouped in Folders located on the Desktop. These folders contain a large no. of icons, and each Folders' icon arrangement needs to be saved/restored.
My current approach is a bit hit&miss.
Perhaps what Im looking for isnt possible?

Ive noticed with several Vista-32 systems that icon layout INSIDE folders on the desktop is often reset to alphabetical order (after program install etc).
Since these folders can contain numerous icons it is tedious to restore correct layout.

I now have created a REG save/restore on two keys:

HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-21-913379744-1625067961-1115525842-1000\Software\Classes\Local Settings\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Shell

&

HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-21-913379744-1625067961-1115525842-1000_Classes\Local Settings\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Shell

It doesnt always work on the newest folder, and key:
S-1-5-21-913379744-1625067961-1115525842-1000
is specific for a given Vista system

Surely others would appreciate a proper icon position RESTORE, which extends inside folders.

any veiws?

Developer's Corner / Re: Need help with Vista Backup
« on: June 23, 2008, 07:01 PM »
Ive checked properties (from XP) for Documents and settings, and
can only see attributes where Hidden is checked and greyed out,
and under "Advanced", Archive and Index Attributes.

There is also "Network sharing and Security" under "Sharing" Tab.
I havent found "Relocation" option.

My  idea is to delete all Vista dirs and unzip different version from ZIPed Backups. My program normally deletes and unzips systems automatically,- but cannot delete Vista "Documents and Settings" and "ProgramData"

I still find it impossible to delete "Documents and settings" and "users" directories from the Vista partition, while running XP.
mstTotalAccess Pro doesnt seem to resolve the problem.

The directory attributes that I can change do not make directories deletable.

Can anyone explain this?

Apologies for missing the reply from Ianux128 - I dont normally check this topic.

I am attaching latest bugfix:
    Corrected App identification.
Corrected for ini setting "persist_fast=2" which avoids refilling
Label-list each time [Shift]-F5 is pressed

Includes help file "README.TXT" explaining operation.
If README.TXT is opened in an Editor and subscript is run,
(press [Shift]-F5), the subscript table should appear listing all
"Headings" (Labels) and other options. Selecting a table entry should
cause the Editor to search for the selected label.
