Yes, I can see it dropping down behind the current window, but I can't click it.  The current window (so far) has been Internet Explorer but it's not set up to stay on top so it shouldn't prevent the SC quick capture bar from popping on top.  Next time it happens, I will get more info....perhaps a screencast.

I am using SC 4.03 on Win7 64bit and I really like the Quick Capture Bar (which actually surprises me because usually I am a keyboard shortcut person vs. a mouser  (pun intended)).  Anyway, once in a while when I mouse over the bar area towards the top and I can see it drop down but it's under my current window, preventing me from being able to select an option.  Does this happen to anyone else?

Wow.  Mouser, I came back to download the latest and greatest as it's been a while since I've checked in and updated SC.  Your improvements are tremendous!  I totally love:
auto-upload to imageshack (no need for zloader anymore)
new/improved special effects (love the splce, glow, and others)
love the little toolbar option that docks to my top screen.  I'm typically a keyboard shortcut guy (yes, I know, we drive you batty), but the toolbar is there when I need and hidden when I don't.

To be honest, I ran into a few issues with the program a while ago and just never found the time to work with you to correct the crashes/issues.  I started using ShareXMod which I liked but missed one real key feature yours has is that it saves the screenshot and the objects separately......so I can find an old screenshot and change some of the embellishments I did in SC.  So I came back....to a brand new version of SC with oodles of goodies.  I've been using 4.0 (just updated to 4.3 today) without any of the errors I experienced before.....so I am a happy camper.  I'm sure you get lots of people who gush, but it never hurts to hear good things over and over.  I use screenshots at work daily, and your features make for a very nice professional screenshot.  There are a lot of tools out there in this arena, but since I've been a DC member, I found SC to always have the best features and a very responsive developer.

Thanks.  I actually tested Cobra and chatted with the developer via email a few times.  I gave him some feedback which apparently was helpful as he just came out with an version that addressed one of my issues with it.  The key issue with it was that while it does allow me to rename and it also allowed me to view the spool file, it did not allow me to zoom on the view.  Qcontrol also has this limitation (and also allows me to view/rename) and is free so I will stick with that.  When I need to zoom on the spool files, I use SPLView (which is great for viewing/zooming but does not allow me to rename).  So it's two tools I'm stuck with to get everything I need but QControl is what I have now used daily for a week or so and it's quite capable and fast.  It's only once in a while I need to zoom and that is when I then fire up SPLView which is also free.

I found a freeware tool that allows you to manage your print queue, view jobs and rename jobs.  So it's exacly what I needed.  QControl at http://www.pcounter....ee-software/qcontrol

I use an application which generates printouts of documents.  The app will not allow me to see the printout before I print it and I cannot print to a virtual printer (like a PDF print driver).  But since I want to visually view the output first and only print what I need, I pause the printer via the windows Pause Printing function from the print queue and use an app which allows me to view the print jobs (SPLViewer).  I often need to keep several print jobs in the queue until I am ready to print them (and many I may never print). Since this app which generates the printout gives the print job name a meaningless name, I'd love a way to rename the print job as it appears in the Windows Print queue.  I'm thinking the job name must be an attribute stored in a file (I think it's in the *.SHD file in the Windows\systems32\spool\printers directory).  I would love to see if there is a script that can allow me to easily pick a job in the queue and rename that job from it's meaningless name to something more meaningful like "DeLuca Contract 20111031".  It would be totally awesome if that same app allowed me to view the SPL file (spool file) generated or just launch the existing app I use to view the spool file.

Is this something possible?

Just tried it (new version above) and it is very slow again.....like really slow.  Checked options and they are set properly per your previous suggested values.

Much faster with endpoint text tho still a minor lag for me (checked my settings to ensure they were right based on your previous feedback).  Vast improvement though, thanks!

The text doesn't appear to undergo any difference visually wile typing vs. clicking o+arrow.

Attacments of objects and ini.

I checked both options and they are the same as your screenshots but it is still very slow.  I should clarify that it's not just slow to paint....but also slow to even show the typed characters in the endpoint text entry field in the options.  If you can think of anything else that might address this, let me know....I've uninstalled and reinstalled SC to see if that did the trick and it did not.

Let me start by saying that I love this tool....it's wy I joined Donation Coder several years ago and I use SC just about every day.  I am expereincing a new issue that I hadn't seen before and a search on this forum reveals no hits.  I often use the arrow tool to point someting out in a screenshot and when I start typing endpoint text, it is very slow to 'paint' the text into the screenshot.....taking several seconds per character.  Any ideas?

My workaround is to type the text in another app, then copy/paste into the endpoint text field in SC.

That did the trick....thanks again mouser.

Don't rush on my account.....just wanted you to know for the next sub/beta release. I hadn't noticed it the other day because I almost always edit in SC before copying/pasting into another form.

An update:  When I copy using the menu option (Edit -> Copy Image/Object to Clipboard), the shadow is properly represented.  But when I do a screenshot....and it copies automatically to the clipboard, if I paste, I still get the black box.

To elaborate:
So in my Post Capture -Actions, I have "Copy Image to Clipboard" enabled
And In my Post Capture -Options I have "Add Drop Shadow to Image" enabled.

And after screenshot, if I paste right away, I get ugly black box....but if I go to the SC window and copy to clipboard and then paste, I get nice shadow.

The new beta works like a charm.  Even with the "Always flatten boackground transparency"....when I copy/paste, I get the shadows vs. the black box.  Thanks!

Thanks again....and for the quick reply.  I have used SC for years and love it....it's the first thing I install on a new PC and couldn't work without it!

OK....thanks mouser.

Update:  If I select the "Always flatten boackground transparency" then I don't get the back box...I get the properly rendered shadow.  So I am good for now.

Perhaps I misunderstood the OP.  Here's what I am doing:

Capturing screenshot
Adding shadow
Copying to clipboard (via Edit -> Copy Image/Object to Clipboard)
Pasting elsewhere

The pasted version used to retain the shadow but now I just have a black border instead of a shadow effect wherever I paste

Using Windows XP
This appears in both the latest production version and the beta.

Any word on this bug?  I installed the latest version and experiencing this issue.  Am in the midst of a large number of screenshots for some documentation and I really need this to work properly (with shadow....not big black border).  Any way I can get an older version of the software before this bug was introduced?

Living Room / Cool Composter
« on: February 23, 2008, 12:36 PM »
I have had a backyard composter for a while but I rarely do much with it due to the manual effort required.  I stumbled across this product (to which I have no affiliation) and thought it was a cool idea.  Anyone have any experience with this composter?
http://naturemill.com/products.html

Makes me think.....would there be enough interest/content to have a room for non-computing cool products?  I always gravitate towards these things and some collaboration would be useful in considering a purchase.  But then again, there's always epinions and specialty forums (like when I want to buy a cappuchino machine....there is a forum of serious afficianatos where a wealth of experienced fanatics provide feedback, reviews and suggestions on a wide range of coffee makers).

I got the free Camtasia 3 deal posted here a while back....and while it has more features than BB Flashback, I much prefer BB Flashback.  So I purchased it (well technically my company purchased it).  In my opinion, it's just a more intuitive, more polished, less confusing app to use compared to Camtasia.  The features that I felt were really missing in BB Flashback v 1.5 were added in 2.0 (fade in/out transition of callouts and ability to add hotlinks to web urls).  So while I had a free app in Camtasia....I ended up springing for the $100 (after DC Discount) on BB Flashback.  Actually, my company ended up paying...but you get the idea.  I have yet to provide feedback to BB on 2.0 beta but I only found a couple of small issues with it (fade in/out issue with low frame rate recordings and serious increase in filesize (like 4 to 5 x the file size) when zoom/pan is introduced).

Also, I liked that when I purchased the BB Flashback full version....they continued to offer me the (DC Member) half price discount that came with my lite version purchased a year before.  Overall....I've yet to be disappointed with this app.  That said, test drive it first (and Camtasia) since it doesn't have every feature Camtasia has.  And while those extra features may not be important to me, they may be deal breakers to you.
