Circle Dock / Re: Blatant plagairism of CircleDock at DeviantArt

Permission to post/redistribute Circle Dock is already given in the Circle Dock license (see license.txt file). Section 4 of the license deals with conveying verbatim copies of the software (which I think this is). It states:

4. Conveying Verbatim Copies.
You may convey verbatim copies of the Program's source code as you receive it, in any medium, provided that you conspicuously and appropriately publish on each copy an appropriate copyright notice; keep intact all notices stating that this License and any non-permissive terms added in accord with section 7 apply to the code; keep intact all notices of the absence of any warranty; and give all recipients a copy of this License along with the Program.

You may charge any price or no price for each copy that you convey, and you may offer support or warranty protection for a fee.

It looks to me that he has followed these terms although it would have been appropriate for him to state where it came from more prominently.

I have a version of Circle Dock that I modified for easier use with a touch screen that I considered making available, especially since Eric has been absent from this project for such an extensive time and it is unknown as to if or when he might return. Otherwise, I would just send him the code changes so he could incorporate them if he wanted. The changes I made are:

  • Added a Toggle button which shows up on the desktop when the CD is dismissed. Click on the Toggle button to bring up CD. Use of Toggle button configurable in settings
  • Added code to insure Circle Dock on screen (changing resolutions can make position be off screen)
  • Option to show all labels all of the time unless "Show labels on Mouseover only" is checked (Eric had these in the UI but had not added code to make it functional)
  • Easier manipulation of CD items, including:
  • Drag and drop items onto dock folder from desktop
  • Drag and drop existing dock items to dock folder
  • Drag and drop dock folder to dock folder
  • Drag and drop existing item up one dock level
  • Delete by dragging item off of dock

Circle Dock is a very cool and useful program and I would like to see more development done on it. It would be great if Eric would come back.
