And the real news is that forecasters see the percentage of laptops starting to decline in 2012, with desktop sales decreasing even further. The winner looks to be tablets, sales of which are expected to steadily increase.

And while the Forrester report has laptop sales still comfortably out front in 2015, real world experience may tell a different story. In September of last year, Wired Magazine reported that Best Buy Chief Executive Brian Dunn said the iPad had replaced as much as half of all laptop sales at their stores.

I have also experienced the sluggish response when region capturing (it sits there with a red icon for about a minute). It isn't consistent. I will try to change the Inactive Memory Use and see.

That works now when I set the DPI on 96. Is that what it should be to make pastes the same size as the original?

I agree, I haven't been able to use the new version yet because of this same problem.

I still get the problem of the copied to clipboard images being reduced by 50%.

And though it shows "Don't Auto Save Captures" it still creates a c:\temp (screenshot folder) file:

On the current version, if I take say a region grab of your ICON, then paste into a new email message, the picture of Snowball looks like the exact same size as seen on the web page.
But on the beta version, the region grab then paste makes the pasted square look about half-size. It still looks normal in the main window view in SC, but pasting it reduces the size.

I downloaded this week's beta.
I notice in the Preferences, the On Capture frame and the Don't save are in red?
And the alignment of Don't Save is too high compared to the rest of the column.
Also, even though I have Don't Auto Save Captures it still does, when I have Pop Up Choice and choose Copy Image to clipboard.
On this beta, when I select a region and paste it into an email message, it is extremely small for some reason. Previously it retained the same aspect as what I was capturing on screen.

No hibernation here. The laptop just stays on all the time and is logged into a domain.

I do notice that if I am on a certain monitor and hit PrintScreen, then the SC crosshairs will only show on that one monitor. If I cross over to the other monitor it is the normal pointer.
The monitors are setup using the Windows Extend My Desktop option, one is the LCD panel and the other is a CRT.

I get the Access Violation regularly on my laptop.
HP dv8000 with XP SP2.
I use dual monitors on the system.
When I leave SC running overnight then the next morning it will get the problem on the first capture attempt (always capturing a selected region not the whole screen, printscreen key defined for this).
If I restart the SC it works.
Using the second to latest beta, but it has always done this.
