FARR Plugins and Aliases / Re: Everything plugin for FARR
« on: April 06, 2009, 12:11 PM »
I just asked everyhing's developer (thanks dude!) for some stuff that can hopefully make everything and FARR integration much better
Here's the topic: http://forum.voidtoo...ic.php?f=8&t=109
I think I'll wait for those before doing any additional changes on the current plugin because anything I'll do now will become obsolete by the time next everything's version comes out.

Sorry but I've been extremely busy these days.. During next month I'll try to fix the character issue and it's not fixable by altering options :(

a regular FARR search FARR uses Everything for searching some folders (as specified in FARR options) and does a regular FARR search in other folders and then combines and presents the results.

I would love something like that for all plugins I choose. Like an 'Integrate this plugin to default search with an additional +/-X score' choice.

When I try to execute a file with the faulty letters ("æ", "ø" and "å"), nothing happens, because the path is wrong.

Will check it out soon..

thank you,
Could you please add an option to enable Regex?

Have you tried ev -r etc?
Dunno if it works

FARR Plugins and Aliases / Windows Live Contacts

!EXPERIMENTAL!

Not really a plugin, more like a workaround (for now).

This is a windows live contact editor I recompiled from http://www.codeplex.com/Contacts and made it so it can accept command line arguements:
a) Download http://dl.getdropbox...63/ContactViewer.zip - I think you'll also need .net 3 for this..
b) Decompress it anywhere you want
c) Go to your Windows Live Messenger options -> Security and uncheck the contact storage checkbox (encrypt....)
d) Associate your .Contact files with contactviewer.exe
e) Add this folder to your FARR folders: yourprofiledir\Contacts\[email protected] (look for it first) and make it so it searches for all .contact files
f) Find a contact in FARR and press enter

Is there any way to show file file extension in the result list?

Will do soon (if it's doable, i'll have to read the SDK)

Yeah, still not getting it. When I type "ev", FARR is not seeing that as pointing to Everything. Everything is running.

But those 9 results in the screenshot are from everything..
Everything just searches your hard disks for files and folders using really fast indexing
Nothing more.. It's a faster locate32

If I try "ev something", I get explorer opening to a folder with "something" in its name.

Try *.exe, some*.exe, *.mp3, *.avi, something\*.mp3, s*thing.doc etc :)

* change the regex from ^log (.*) to ^ev (.*) to avoid conflicts with locate plugin.
* in the preferences its looking for locate.exe you'll want to change that too.

Done.. Plugin updated

FARR Plugins and Aliases / Everything plugin for FARR

EXPERIMENTAL :)

You need everything running, and es.exe from:
http://www.voidtools.com/download.php
Portable version works fine.

http://dl.getdropbox...3/FarrEverything.dll
Make a directory in farr: Plugins\FarrEverything and place the dll there

Configure the plugin and place es.exe path there

Well it does offer an api through windows messages
But until then here's a beta release of my everything plugin (that uses command line es.exe)
Download es.exe from everything's web site
It's actually a copy-pasted locate32 plugin :)

http://dl.getdropbox...3/FarrEverything.dll

Is there a way to make only this plugin's results show in small result mode by default?
