Find And Run Robot / Re: Feature request for thumb drive use
« on: July 30, 2008, 07:40 AM »
I was going to ask the same question as thecrumb but searched and found this.

I'd also like to ask can the "quickdoclauncher.exe" be moved to another directory?, as it appears in the "PortableAppsMenu" list.
It's only annoying, no major drawback of having it there but it just looks untidy.

Thanks

Find And Run Robot / Re: Alias and relative paths possible bug
« on: July 11, 2008, 06:18 AM »
Thanks for the quick reply mouser. And (as you obviously know) that works like a treat. my new alias is;

1000>>>scanfs>->scanfs $$1 $$2 | %FARRDIR%\plugins\Saleen Software\scanfs.exe path=$$1 file=$$2>+>^scanfs (\S*) (.*)

instead of;

1000>>>scanfs>->scanfs $$1 $$2 | Z:\portableapps\findandrunrobot\plugins\Saleen Software\scanfs.exe path=$$1 file=$$2>+>^scanfs (\S*) (.*)

Thanks again.

Find And Run Robot / Alias and relative paths possible bug
« on: July 11, 2008, 06:02 AM »
Hi mouser,

I've just imported Kartal's alias's for scanfs and was having trouble getting it to work. But I found the problem was with me trying to use a relative path in the alias as oppose to use the full path. Is this a possible bug? or do alias's only use full paths?

General Software Discussion / Re: ScanFs is updated!
« on: July 11, 2008, 05:55 AM »
I've found what is wrong!!!

I am using farr from a usb drive and have been using relative paths. When I imported your alias I changed the location.

Yours --> 1000>>>scanfs>->scanfs $$1 $$2 | E:\Program Files (x86)\Saleen Software\scanfs.exe path=$$1 file=$$2>+>^scanfs (\S*) (.*)
Mine -->  1000>>>scanfs>->scanfs $$1 $$2 | plugins\Saleen Software\scanfs.exe path=$$1 file=$$2>+>^scanfs (\S*) (.*)

It finds the icon for scanfs but does nothing after hitting return. So I changed it to;

New -->  1000>>>scanfs>->scanfs $$1 $$2 | Z:\portableapps\findandrunrobot\plugins\Saleen Software\scanfs.exe path=$$1 file=$$2>+>^scanfs (\S*) (.*)

and now it works. I'll check with mouser to see if this is a bug or not. Cheers for your reply Kartal and thanks for putting me onto scanfs it looks good.

Hi Mouser,

I got an idea of adding a right click on the search results (folders) and having a command prompt here option.
I have installed DOSHERE.inf on my local PC and it is really helpful. I have farr on my USB hard drive and use it on lots of other pcs and this is one feature that I miss on the other pcs. So I thought it would be handy if it was part of farr.

Thanks

Kartal,
I'm trying to use your alias for scanfs. I have imported them and changed the path to where scanfs sits on my pc but nothing happens when I try to use it.
If I use the command line to do a search (scanfs /path= z:\ /file=newtxtdoc) scanfs fires up and this works fine. But if I do the same from farr "scanfs z:\ newtxtdoc" nothing happens. I know my path is right to scanfs because if I change it the icon in the farr list is not shown.
I've also tried the grep alias and it does the same thing, nothing.
I am using 2.20.01 version of farr.

do you have any ideas?

Find And Run Robot / Re: Farr "-exit" command takes a while.
« on: February 26, 2008, 01:49 PM »
I did some more checking and mine exits instantly on my PC but when I run it off my usb stick it takes a long time. It suggests that my usb stick is making it exit slowly.
Should have really checked before posting. Sorry 'bout that.

Is there any problem with me killing farr on my usb stick (I'm sure I've got something that will do it)? Or does farr do some tidying up on exiting?

Find And Run Robot / Farr "-exit" command takes a while.
« on: February 25, 2008, 05:05 PM »
Hi guys, This is my first post on this forum and let me start by saying thank you for this great piece of software. I am a recently converted Farr user coming from the Launchy scene.
I have got Farr installed on my home PC, work laptop, 4GB usb flash drive and my 160GB usb hard disk (it's quite a task to try and keep them in sync).
My problem (more of an annoyance) is that on my usb copies I have got a program that issues "findandrunrobot.exe -exit" and it can take up 7 or 8 secs to close. Is there anyway to make it close quicker? or is it a limitation with Farr? or my usb drives being too slow?

Hope someone can help and I look forward to your replies.
Again thank you for this fantastic software.
