Thanks skwire, I now know that for future reference. BTW, I was trying to avoid having to make the folder and move the shortcut into it.

Skwire, I just tried to put a shortcut into a folder, (under Start Menu) using Files2Folder and it put the actual .exe file not the shortcut into a folder where the proram is installed. Is this by design or is this a glitch? Brian
PS: I am using a Dell Inspiron 1545 notebook running Win 7 Home Premium x64

Thanks Jesse for being so gracious in allowing me to be a pain in the butt, pulling you off ya NANY app, and the MozFo game and anything else you're working on. Brian

Just to add weight to my theory that LBC is unable to hook icons from shortcuts to x64 apps.......DVD Maker.jpg C:\Program Files\DVD Maker\DVDMaker.exe
MFICMDGUI.jpg C:\Program Files\Microsoft Fix it Center\FixitCenter.exe, C:\Program Files\MyDefragGUI\MyDefragGUI.exe Games.jpg C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Mahjong\Mahjong.exe, C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Solitaire\Solitaire.exe, Paint.net.jpg C:\Program Files\Paint.NET\PaintDotNet.exe
As you can see all are from the C:\Program Files, 64bit programs folder, not the C:\Program Files (x86) 32bit programs folder.

No variables whatsoever, path is correct. I have included screenshots of the properties dialogue and the folder proper in Windows Explorer.

If you look at the right pane of the screenshot of xplorer 2 above the icon is fine, same in explorer and all my file managers. Nothing unusual at all for any of them. It seems that LBC being 32bit, it can hook the icons from other 32bit app shortcuts, but not 64bit app shortcuts because the same problem occurs with all shortcuts for 64bit apps.

That is entirely correct Jesse

Mouser, it shows the icons of all the 32bit apps from their shortcuts in the dropdown lists, but not the icons from 64bit apps. If you look at the dropdown list in the top screenshot above all icons are shown except the xplorer2 icon (xplorer2_64.exe) which I have circled. Node is a Folder Node. If you look further along the bar to the second circled item, the xplorer2 icon shows as it is linked directly to the program file. Node is a Command Node.

Mouser, not sure if this is a bug or not, but LBC does not show the icons of 64bit apps from shortcuts. Before using LBC I made a toolbar from a folder of subfolders of shortcuts. When I setup LBC I used these folders and added a few of my most used programs to the bar. The directly linked 64bit app icon displays correctly, the icon from the shortcut doesn't. See screenshots. app, +1 for everything that has been said before. Your story brought tears to my eyes as I have had my dreams torn to pieces on a couple of occasions myself, 1, when I asked a girl to marry me, but she passed away the day after telling me she was pregnant. I got back on my horse and now have a son, (16 in Jan), 3 step kids and an extra I have been looking after since she was 10, (now 20) and 2, after 11 years as a psychiatric carer it was time to get out, went back to school to do a Certificate III in Hospitality when my back gave out, I almost ended up in a wheel chair after being hit by a car at 6, and it is an exacerbation of that. Been flat on my back for just over 8 months now. So coding isn't your Kentucky Derby winner, try your next horse and see how it runs. Hopefully next Derby Day you'll be on a winner. Thanks for your apps, LL I use every time I restart, and thanks for making DC a better place for all of us. Hopefully you won't be a stranger too long. Brian from Downunder

I first found DC when I was looking for a clipboard utility and found Clipboard Help & Spell. I use it 20+ times a day every day. I got a freebie key and came back for another look and read mouser's ideology on donating and as soon as I could afford to (i am on a pension) I donated $10US about $13AUD. Donated the same amount during the donation drive and when I can I will donate again. The great programs, the help and support of the authors, second to none IMHO, the wealth of knowledge on the forums is what keeps me coming back and keeps me donating. Keep up the great work and a fantastic site. Brian :D  :-*

General Software Discussion / Re: Firefox 4.0 Beta 1

Under W7 Home Premium x64 I have no exit button if the menu bar is Hidden, I have to exit via the Firefox menu. With the menu bar hidden I have to go into add-ons via the preferences panel once again accessible via the Ff menu. Bookmarks only being able to be placed on the right is another thing that annoys the hell out of me, not to mention that it downloads everything to the temp folder even though I have specified the Downloads folder and although I have unchecked the "Show Downloads Window" checkbox it still pops up every time. I am about to uninstall it. Much prefer 3.6 at least the add-ons actually work.

I found DC whilst looking for a clipboard program. I have used Clipboard Help & Spell ever since and now also Lacuna Launcher, Screenshot Captor, LBC, DC Updater, Process Tamer, and Todler Trap. Worth every penny of the donations I've made and then some. Mouser and skwire rock.

Tranglos,
It looks like a great app. I am running Vista Business SP2. Under Vista the settings are found in C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Roaming\Ethervane. Under Vista all accounts including Admin. accounts are run as user accounts. Any program needing to write information to disk needs to have it's privileges elevated to administrator. The only privilege I have as an administrator is that I don't need to type in an admin. password each time I need to elevate a programs privileges. There is a checkbox under properties to elevate permenantly. One thing that is puzzling me is that it has reported 59 out of 1984 possible key combo's as being active, but it reports Ctrl+C (Copy) Ctrl+V (Paste) and Ctrl+X (Cut) as inactive although they do work. Same results occur when run with or without elevation. Any Ideas?  Just a tip for the readme is if people want to automate the installation and removal of the program, including adding shortcuts install it with Nir Sofer's freeware gem, Zip Installer. It is available from his site, www.nirsoft.net Brian

Installed it in Program Files and it works. I was using it from my C:\Users\Briandr67\Downloads\DC Program Setups folder. Bloody temperimental Vista. Thanx skwire, Brian

I tried it in a command window and it worked. Here is the output.

skwire, yes it is an admin account, but under Vista it is still a limited rights account. Anything that needs admin rights you have to right click Run As Administrator or set it up permenantly by checking a checkbox in the apps. properties dialogue page. The Run box can't be elevated for some reason. Tried powercfg /list | clip and no go. Brian

21
skwire, when I try it from the run box I had the command window pop up for about 3ms. and no file was output, so I ran it in a command window and that's the message I recieved.

22
skwire, I keep getting the message "Access Is Denied". Brian

23
Thanx skwire. Here's the output. Brian

skwire, I would love to but the window only stays open for a few milliseconds and I can't find an output file anywhere. Brian
