Living Room / Re: Media Extenders (SageTV)
« on: November 14, 2008, 03:35 PM »
I have personal experience with SageTV, BeyondTV, Meedio, Media Portal and Vista Media Center.

If you're going to use it for TV/PVR at all, I highly recommend SageTV above all.  BeyondTV is good also, but the user base is much smaller and it is PVR-only (no video/movies/music/photos etc).  For the free alternatives, GBPVR is supposed to be good.  SageTV works on WHS, XP, Vista, Linux and Mac and has a very nice, easy-to-use HD extender as well.  Check out the SageTV forums for more information. http://forums.sagetv.com/forums/

mouser,
Thanks for the kind words and links.  Funny thing is, donationcoder and the donationcoder blog are on my favorite sites list in my favorites so I appreciate it all the more.

I'm currently working on a 2nd diy digital laptop frame that I'm building for my retired parents.  The goal for this one will be to make it even easier to use.  The laptop I'm using for that one is one my dad had sitting in his closet gathering dust so it's a perfect project for them.

Regards,
Brent
