FARR Plugins and Aliases / Re: CZB pack
« on: April 04, 2013, 08:48 AM »
Yes. There can be a up/down vote for plugins in a dedicated plugin page. It can display if it is broken or works only with a specific version. Try to find this zipped plugin pack from search or dc/farr homepage. It is difficult. There is a place for the farr plugins but it doesn't show user input (votes for brevity) in a glance. If I know a plugin is broken, I can simply downvote it on the page. Specifics can be looked for in the thread which is linked in the plugin title.

Something on the same line but much cleaner is for notepad++  http://sourceforge.n...title=Plugin_Central

Also, a plugin manager that lists the compatible plugins/scripts which can be checked to download/install would be great. I can see that the dcscript plugin is written pretty much on the same line. I haven't explored the SDK but a quick look in the gcalc and some other scripts shows mouser has done an excellent job. I would go one step further and would say that the plugins should also be installed from the farr search box itself. how? See sublime-text package control plugin which allows to install/uninstall/discover(with small detail) plugins of choice.

I have been using keyboard based launchers for years and farr beats all of them. It has a huge potential. Lets host it on github for the world to contribute.

FARR Plugins and Aliases / Re: CZB pack

I have left launchy in favor of FARR. It is a great nifty utility and is better than almost all alternatives I have used in past decade. though the FARR itself is being developed, it seems plugins are lagging behind. Many of the plugins are broken. I wanted to use the calculator but so far no luck. GCalc is broken as google has changed its output and the script doesn't parse it properly etc. I will be trying to customize farr to suit my needs but may I request people to ensure that the plugins are refreshed at least yearly and there is a better way to report what is broken and what is not. Possibly, an auto discovery of plugins in farr will be a great feature instead of manually downloading to plugins directory. I will share if I write something for farr. Once again, an excellent nifty utility and great work guys

Timer with a span of 5 seconds doesnt suit the normal usage. Though, I will consider making the span configurable so that it fits the special requirement as yours. I will gather more ideas on what else could be configurable.

GOE 2007 Challenge Downloads / Timer Assist - GOE Challenge 2007 Entry
« on: November 24, 2007, 12:28 PM »
Ok.....as per mouser's suggestion, I am posting here my application which was made for a request on DC Forum:

I work at a hospital and have to chart the patient's vitals every 15 minutes after surgery. This has to be done at 15 past the hour, 30 minutes past the hour 45 minutes past the hour and on the hour.

I need a timer that will sound a user chosen wav file (some sounds can be irritating to recouping patients so one that is tolerable has to be used) on the 15's, display a user defined message that will only go away after acknowledgment and continue counting happily away without user intervention. That is it will alarm at the next 15 even if the message is not acknowledged.

Most timers will not auto continue after sounding an alarm and if the timer is started at 10 after the hour, will not alarm at 15 past but at the preset countdown time.

Most of the requested functionalities are already implemented in the following thread : https://www.donation...ex.php?topic=10338.0

Just set the span and loop. Span is the duration when the buzzer kicks off, and loop tells you how many times the buzzer will ring when the time to buzz is met. It will happen every Span minutes !

I have used UE for some time and needless to say that it is very feature rich. It performs most of the activities which I would like to have in a general purpose editor. But having said that, I would say that I have met many people who dont have such a sophisticated requirement and normall are lost with UE. So, they have the options for something like notepad++(free) , PSPad(free), Emeditor(free for students) etc. They dont have as much features as UE but still they are used because most of them dont cost anything and are packed with just enough to be needed.
It is just another way of looking at something being called best. Mercedes is something we all may agree to call best but again, not all of us need it.

On App Restart I didnt allow to Activate Directly ( without apply changes) because the activation time still reflects the last configured time, which might not be applicable. So, I prefer to click on apply with a new start time or, incase if i like to use the same then apply the old setting and activate !

Post New Requests Here / Re: IDEA: "Days since" program
« on: October 15, 2007, 12:52 PM »
I like this idea: it's a iGoogle widget that keeps track of number of the days since you have performed some task.  You enter the name of the task and it keeps Track of the time automatically.

http://leancode.com/dayssince/

I do not use iGoogle, and I don't want to start.  Why not create an Autohotkey equivalent?

Hopefully the program will not take up too much processing power and memory.

Thanks! -Spanky

What exactly you mean by performing some task ? Do you mean an application , since last time it was launched ? or you mean task to be textual information for some personal work which has elapsed (on a configured date) and the application would display the duration since it elapsed ?

Number of loops is the number of counts the wav file will be played. Span is the time duration (in minutes) when the application rings again.
For eg. If your loop is 5 and span is 30, then at the time of your start the application would play the wav file 5 number of times. It will replay the sound 5 number of times again after a span of 30 minutes.
The original requirement was to make it ring periodically.

If someone cant hear the wav file even if it rings 5 times then I dont think he will hear it if it rings 10 times too :P

I hope I answered all your queries
