Found Deals and Discounts / Verizon DSL charges.
« on: September 12, 2009, 08:28 PM »
I live in South New Jersey and have been on Verizon's 1.5 Mbps @ $29.95 a month since moving here 4 years ago. I happened to catch a Verizon ad that stated 1.5 Mbps is $19.99 a month and 3 Mbps is $29.99 a month. I have no idea when they changed this, but they never notified me and kept me on the 1.5 Mbps speed. I called them yesterday and I am now running at 2.4 Mbps without any additional charge. Anyone still paying Verizon $29.95 a month for 1.5 Mbps, give them a call and see if you can upgrade in your area for no charge.

By using Mouser's Process Tamer and Manually assigning CPU infinities using Mark Russinovich's Process Explorer I have been able to increase the speed of foreground applications noticeably. Not being a programmer (retired mainframe DBA dinosaur) I don't know how hard this would be to code but it sure would beat setting the affinities manually everytime I Logoff or Boot. Thanks for all you folks do with your request programs.

« on: August 16, 2008, 03:36 PM »
Hi Skrommel,

Noise disappeared from both my download file and execute file. As of Yesterday, Aug. 15th, Norton 360 is saying it's a virus???

Just thought you should know.

Post New Requests Here / Vista times out while watching movies
« on: May 10, 2008, 02:51 PM »
There may already be some code out there that I don't know about, but what's happening is this:
When Vista is set to a screen saver, or to go to sleep after the time set and I start a movie, the screen saver starts running as soon as the elapsed time in the timer is reached. The only way I have found around this is to turn off the screen saver and the sleep settings, then reset them when  the movie is over. I guess I'm looking for some code that would hit the space key via software every 60 seconds or so to cause the screen saver timer to reset.

Thanks in advance,
Rich B.   :)
