Clipboard Help+Spell / Feature request: emoji support
« on: June 22, 2016, 01:22 PM »
If I copy an emoji from e.g. https://twitter.gith...twemoji/preview.html, CH+S saves it as ??

Any chance this gets added?

Hi
I like my wallpapers, much more than the solid "background color" Win8.1 shows on the login/lockscreen, based on my choice from the Personalise settings. If the Start screen can use my wallpaper in the background, why not login/lockscreen?

Anyone know how to make this happen?

Thanks

Jacob

General Software Discussion / Way to hide a desktop icon temporarily?
« on: September 03, 2014, 03:53 AM »
I use my Win8.1 desktop as an informal todo list - icons to things to read, programs to install and trial, etc., and this is mainly driven by the fact that I like having a clean desktop, so I'm always motivated to do those tasks and get rid of the icons.

Sometimes I'm tempted to put too much stuff on my desktop though. With that in mind, I'd like a way to hide desktop icons and schedule when they should reappear, signaling that I should take care of them.

Anyone know of a lightweight tool that does this? Or maybe even a registry hack?

Clipboard Help+Spell / UTF-8 bug?
« on: April 08, 2013, 10:05 AM »
I'm using v2.17.01 on Win8 64-bit.

Here's how to reproduce the bug:

  • With CP+H enabled, copy this Hebrew text: מסלול סיוע לקידום חברות מתחילות
  • Now paste that same text, but do it by selecting it from the CP+H popup, and this is what you get: îñìåì ñéåò ì÷éãåí çáøåú îúçéìåú

It's worth noting that if I open the Main Window and scroll through the excerpts, there the copied text is rendered correctly in Hebrew.

Clipboard Help+Spell / Hotkey idea
« on: November 11, 2012, 05:06 AM »
Now that I've upgraded to Windows 8, it's no longer practical to use Win+V as my CHS hotkey. Took me some time to find another one that I could use (Win+G, for now). But then I discovered Shapeshifter. I haven't tried it, but I sure do like the idea that if I Ctrl+V, I get regular Paste, but if I Ctrl+V and hold, I get the popup to choose clipboard items from.

That's much better than needing a CHS-specific hotkey in addition to good ole Ctrl+V.

What do you think, Mouser?

I'm looking for Win7 software, preferably freeware, that can randomly choose desktop background images from a directory (and its subdirectories), stretch the image to fill the screen if necessary, and change the desktop background image every X seconds.

I just upgraded my wife's PC to Win7 from XP. On XP, she was using an old XP Powertoy to change the desktop background images every 3 seconds, and the images were being chosen from a large directory hierarchy of family pictures. This way, our second monitor became a large digital photo frame when it wasn't being used for DVDs, and we often found ourselves and/or our kids watching the pictures.

Win7's own background image settings allow an automatic image change every 10 seconds at least, but the images can only be taken from a single directory and not a directory hierarchy such as our family photos of the past 10 years. Although, if anyone knows some registry hacks to change this, I'm interested.

A good resource is this: http://www.techsuppo...allpaper-changer.htm

Most of the listed programs there either don't support time intervals lower than 1 minute or don't support choosing images randomly from subdirectories or aren't compatible with Win7.

Any suggestions?

Clipboard Help+Spell / 3 Feature Ideas
« on: December 17, 2011, 02:38 PM »
I just finished watching the 3 screencasts, and I'm even more impressed with this program than before.

Ways that I could see CHS improved, that would also allow me to remove other programs from my system:

1) Text aliases i.e. shortcuts with a trigger that are then replaced by e.g. a much longer block of text.

I currently use Lifehacker's free Texter program for this and it works fine. But they way I look at, the expansions are just text blocks that I've copied like anything else in CHS, and want to be able to recycle quickly because I reuse them often.

Currently you can hack this with favorites but that requires mouse-clicking, while Texter let's me do this with just a few keystrokes.

2) Full-on key logging

Not for nefarious purposes, of course. I'm just tired of losing work because a program crashed and there was no autosave or I forgot to save regularly (which I shouldn't have to do). Yes, keylogging captures backspaces/deletions/etc., but I'd still rather reconstruct work from semi-jumbled text than have to try and recall everything from rote at a moment of extreme frustration.

And to avoid it being used for nefarious purposes, you could add in safeguards such as the captured text not being saved beyond the current session, for example.

3) Shortcuts to send copied content out as a tweet, Facebook status update, etc. with optionally-active built-in url shortening capabilities when a url is included. I'd love to have a submenu in the Popup Paste Menu that would allow me to choose a destination on the fly.

Clipboard Help+Spell / Crash in Win7 with LibreOffice Calc
« on: November 06, 2011, 09:11 AM »
I'm on Win7 64-bit Home Premium, CH+S 2.09.01.

Here's how I can systematically reproduce this bug:

  • Open a spreadsheet in LibreOffice/OpenOffice
  • Left-click any row number, which selects the entire row
  • Ctrl-C

At this point, Win7 tells me:

Find And Run Robot / Internationalization issues
« on: June 08, 2006, 08:12 AM »
I'm running XP Home SP2 with a French installation, however I do alot of work in Hebrew, so that's the default 'special characters' language. Because of this, I noticed that FARR will not search directories that have such special characters in their names, it seems this is true unless the special characters are coming from another latin-based language like French or German. In my case this is particularly annoying since my user's Start Menu is found here:

C:\Documents and Settings\Jacob\Menu Démarrer

However, due to the Hebrew special characters, it's rendered as:

C:\Documents and Settings\Jacob\Menu D'marrer

And then FARR annoyingly skips the stuff inside. I was able to get around this by using Sysinternals' Junction to create some symlinks, and then have FARR search those.

Is this a known issue?
