Need a nice piece of software than can perform a scan and repair (if possible) of a harddrive, like the old Norton Disk Doctor did. Scan for bad sectors, move the content to a safe area on the disk and mark the faulty sectors as bad so they don´t get used again. Are there such programs available anymore? I´m on Windows 7 Ultimate x64, and the check disk utility supplied with the OS is, to say the least, not good  :D

Mircryption / Questions about Mircryption and Psybnc...and some more
« on: October 29, 2009, 12:56 AM »
I am a long time user of Fish IRC encryption, but have also tried mircryption a few times and really like it. Its vast amount of features makes it superior to Fish. Using mircryption is not without problems though......A couple of questions.

I am using an IRC bouncer (psybnc 2.3.2.7) and when people messaging me through the bnc when i am not online i cant read those messages, they dont get decrypted. I know there´s a mod for psybnc 2.3.2.5 (mcpsybnc) but did that one ever got updated to run on 2.3.2.7? Are there any other way to get psybnc to decrypt messages? It works fine when i am online and using querys, but not reading offline messages.

Second, the compatibility mode for Fish works (+Ok) fine, but is it not supposed to be persistent through sessions? If i go to Commands>Mircryption in mIRC i can set the +OK mode there, but as far as i can see that setting does not stay that way when i close mIRC and restart it. I have to enable it again every time. Same goes for querys (private messaging), i have to enable the +OK mode every time.

Third, is the script for key exchange supposed to do that automatically? As of now i have to do it manually.

Using mIRC 6.35 on Windows 7 Ultimate x64.

General Software Discussion / Help with finding accurate software.
« on: September 20, 2007, 11:37 AM »
Hi guys, been a while since i posted here, but now when i find myself in somewhat of a distress i once again turn to the very source of knowledge and skill. :D

I do a lot of writing on different subjects, politics, computer related stuff, film, music, litterature and so on, and during my search for information on the Internet i sometimes stumbles upon pieces of information that i would love to save for future projects, like code snippets, pieces of text, URL:s and such. Usually i fire up Notepad and add the text or URL to a document and the saves it, but this is not really a convenient way. In the long run you tend to end up with a plethora of text documents with only a few words on each. So i need some kind of software that i can instantly fire up (with a press of a button maybe?) from lets say the system tray, and where i can add all those little pieces of information instead of creating a document for each entry. I then want to be able to save and at a later moment retrieve the information by searching keywords. I guess it sounds like a small and simple local database or sumthing. Does anyone know of such a software? Maybe one of the distinguished programmers here has come up with such a solution?

Greetings from Sweden (where the winter very soon are upon us :( )

Hi dudes and dudettes. I am using a Microsoft Wireless Comfort Keyboard with its native software installed. It works pretty well, looks like i´ve had all the settings tuned so it suits me, but i am missing a feature. I would like to be able to change the sensitivity when pressing a key, for instance when typing. The MS software has the "repeat delay" and repeat rate" settings, but it´s not exactly what i am looking for. Yes, i do a lot of typing :)

I have not found any settings for that in the Microsoft software (or i might be blind) so my question is if there´s such a software available on the market?  Or a software that extends the capabilitys of the keyboard/mouse beyond those found in the native software.

Is there any stuff like that out there?

Best regards.
