General Software Discussion / My new program : Calibre2Opds
« on: February 19, 2010, 11:32 AM »
Hi fellow DonationCoders !

I've released a new version of my Calibre2opds program, and I think that it may interest some of you, even if it's quite a specialized piece of software...
But what does it do ?

If you use the wonderful Calibre to manage your eBook collection, my program will generate a very nice catalog both in HTML format (for use with any modern browser) and OPDS format (for use with Stanza, Aldiko or any other OPDS-compatible ebook reader).

Here is a nice tutorial about the previous version, which also shows how to use Dropbox to put your eBook collection in the cloud !

It's written in Java, so the prerequisites are simple : Java 1.5 ; and it's free !

Cheers,
David.

DC Website Help and Extras / Banners
« on: April 07, 2006, 03:23 AM »
Hi all,
I made a small advert on my website for DonationCoder.com, and I noticed that I couldn't find a banner that would really fit my sidebar.
The large ones are too large, and the small ones too small ;)
I eventually settled for the small Cody logo, but I'd like to know if someone has already made a bigger one ? About the size of the 'Get Firefox' logo (160x60 pixels) ...
Also, I'm (thanks to Mouser's generosity) an 'Charter honorary member' ; I'm proud of that, but does that give me the right to use the 'Charter member' banner on my website ? I have placed it at the bottom, but please tell me if I must remove it...
Cheers, and thanks for all !
David.

fSekrit / Compared with Steganos Locknote
« on: February 16, 2006, 07:52 AM »
Hi, and thanks for this most excellent program !
Just a quick question : how would you compare it to Steganos Locknote ?
I read the technical description of both, and both are free, easy to use, crypt using AES 256bits ... It seems that fSekrit is smaller, and that it has a cooler name ;)
Cheers,
David.

Find And Run Robot / A bug ?
« on: November 11, 2005, 05:32 AM »
Hello !
First, bravo for a great idea and a fine program, and thanks for making it free !
However, I think I may have run into a bug :
I start the program (pause key), make a search (for a program I want to run) then press the corresponding number key.
This is the normal procedure, and everything works as advertised (and fast, too ;o)
But, when the program is launched (slowly), my (slow) hard drive keeps working until I press pause to bring back F&RR and pause again to make it go away.
I found out that the reason the programs are slow to launch is that F&RR uses the disk even when it has finished searching, when a program is run.
It does this even when I manually stop the search before launching the program (using the ESC key).
Feel free to contact me if you need more details, or need help testing for corrections : dpierron(roundy thing almost like a a)gmail.com !
