Find And Run Robot / Re: Open only one file manager window
« on: December 05, 2022, 04:04 AM »
Thank you for the suggestion. The link that you gave was useful as it led me to the right solution for my case. The setting that I adjusted was in "Explorer replacement" preferences and I enabled "Open external folders in a new tab". Now when I click on a search result in FARR the folder selected is opened in a new tab in my existing Lister which is what I wanted.

LaunchBar Commander / Ctrl+Alt+Shift+L doesn't work?
« on: November 04, 2022, 11:15 PM »
LBC's Help section on Runtime Tips and Tricks it states "Hit Ctrl+Alt+Shift+L to bring the options dialog up even if launchbars are somehow hidden offscreen -- useful for recovering from weird monitor changes that hide launchbars." Unfortunately this doesn't work.

The problem that I described has gone. I found the answer by looking at another topic that I started about Snapshot Captor, here.

LaunchBar Commander / Open containing folder - doesn't work
« on: November 01, 2022, 06:00 AM »
I added a folder in LBC and it has many subdirectories and files in it. By experimentation I understand that some context menu actions on files inside this node, for example, Delete, Rename do not work because LBC thinks that I'm about to delete etc. the node, not the files themselves. Fair enough. However, what I also cannot do is to use the "Open containing folder" context menu entry when I highlight a file inside this node. I think it has to do with having spaces in the directory name.

To bypass the above minor irritations is the fact that I can actually use the "Open in Directory Opus" context menu item.

LaunchBar Commander / A problem with mouse and context menus
« on: October 24, 2022, 02:00 PM »
I started setting up LaunchBar Commander which I used to use some time ago, but then I changed to something else.

I'm facing an irritating problem with my mouse and the program context menu. It can be looked at from three different aspects as follows:

On a dock bar that's located on the desktop the right click context menu appears but then disappears before I have a chance to select any item on it. After many trials I found that a solution is to right click for the menu and immediately move the mouse cursor away from it. Then I may move it on the menu and make a selection. It seems to me that moving the cursor immediately on the menu makes it disappear.

On a dock bar that is docked on the side of the desktop the above solution doesn't work. The context menu disappears when I move the cursor on it.

In the tray area of the Taskbar the context menu behaves as the second case above. That is, it disappears when I move the cursor on it.

If instead of moving the mouse cursor on the context menu I use the keyboard arrow keys, the context menu does not disappear and I can make a choice using the keyboard.

Based on my testing so far which is not very extensive, I think that the problem is restricted to the program context menu.

I'm running Windows 11 version 22H2.

Find And Run Robot / Open only one file manager window
« on: October 20, 2022, 11:25 AM »
Is there a way to open a folder (or go to a file) after search, but not in a new instance of my file manager? I use Directory Opus on Windows 11 v. 22H2. With my current settings (default after installation of FARR) when I press on a search result a new instance of Directory Opus is started.

Screenshot Captor / Re: Problem with right click menu navigation
« on: November 04, 2021, 04:48 PM »
EDIT: Solved thanks to assistance from the developer of PowerPro.
Anything you can share? Might be helpful for other users that find this thread.
The answer is only relevant for anyone also using PowerPro and it's in here. You have to change a specific setting in PowerPro.

Thanks for your interest. I use the portable version of the program on a Local Account (standard user). My ConfigDir.ini is // PORTABLE=TRUE
CONFIGDIR = C:\Users\myname\Documents\ScreenshotCaptor.

a) When I run Screenshot Captor with the Local Account the problem exists and I cannot move the mouse on the entries after right clicking the tray icon.
b) If I run it as Administrator then there is a problem with the tray icon menu.
c) If I run it with the other program (PowerPro) running then there is a problem with the tray icon menu.
d) If PowerPro is not running then there is no problem with Screenshot Captor's tray icon menu.

Please note that with PowerPro running other tray icons are not affected in the manner described.
I can access the Screenshot Captor popup menu with the keyboard arrow keys. The problem is caused when I try to use the mouse to navigate that menu.

I'm wondering if there are two separate issues here: One being running Screenshot Captor as Administrator or not and the other one being running Screenshot Captor when PowerPro is also running or not.

EDIT: Solved thanks to assistance from the developer of PowerPro.

Screenshot Captor / Problem with right click menu navigation
« on: November 02, 2021, 02:23 AM »
When I right click the tray icon the menu of items pops up. However, as soon as I start moving my mouse over the list of items the whole menu disappears.
I'm running Windows 11.

EDIT: The problem was not observed using a Local Administrator account. It happens with a Standard User account.
I'll try deleting and reinstalling the program (portable edition).

EDIT 2: I'm 99% sure that the incompatibility has to do with an other specific program. I'll investigate.

Say, inside menu 1 I have four commands, A, B, C and D. If I only want commands B and C to appear as batch buttons while also keeping them in the group of menu 1, I can only do so by creating another menu (menu 2) in which I include (copies of) commands B and C and set menu 2's attribute to "Treat as batch button". Therefore, I end up with commands B and C in two places.

11
Thank you very much.

A rather minor observation: I especially like the option of having a menu being treated as a batch button. This is particularly helpful on PC startup, because I usually launch a number of programs before I get down to using the PC. However, why is this option not available for individual commands? I had to copy several commands in a "startup" menu that I created in order to make it work and this resulted in some duplication that could otherwise be avoided.

12
I am testing out LaunchBar Commander after having used FARR for quite some time. I am trying to see how I could run a program in LBC as Administrator. This option is available with FARR, but I couldn't find anything equivalent in LBC.

13
Thank you for the update.

Clipboard Help+Spell / Re: Does CHS handle Rich Text?
« on: January 28, 2015, 12:20 AM »
I hope that CHS could one day handle RichText and formats other than plaintext. It would be a huge enhancement.

Thumbs up from me too about FARR  . I wanted to make this posting in order to express my appreciation for this great program and also to welcome the news that its development continues.

I look forward to the next update, although I should add that I have no complaints about the version that I currently use.

16
I'm making the rounds doing updates on my apps -- FARR is getting just a minor update this round, but i expect to be doing some more substantial improvements in the coming months so stay tuned.

Many thanks.

17
Thank you for the hint. I'll try and follow it up.

18
That's wonderful. Thank you very much indeed.

19
Thank you for this fantastic application.

Is it possible to install the QuotesDaddy.com online quote fetcher book addon manually, that is without having to run a setup.exe program?

FARR Plugins and Aliases / Re: Two problems with Hamnotes [SOLVED]
« on: February 25, 2013, 03:44 PM »
I solved the problem by reinstalling the plugin and also deleting the alias "hnote\s". I don't remember when, how or why that alternative alias was created.

FARR Plugins and Aliases / Two problems with Hamnotes
« on: February 25, 2013, 12:14 AM »
When trying to use hamNotes with FARR version 2.206.01 there are two problems:

1. I cannot get any of the commands to work, for example "hnote /a", "hnote /k", "hnote /pref" etc. As soon as I enter them a search begins for "hnote" on one of the USB drives on my PC. The only entry that works is "hnote\s" which brings up the Command Center infomation.

2. I cannot change the path to the default hamNotes save directory.

I would greatly appreciate any help with these problems.

22
When I disabled all of them, Fspell would work, showing the icons etc. but the OLEAUT32.dll would still appear. The error goes away only if I disable the FARRSubScript.dll. In this case the CZB_pack plugins do not work :(.

23
The FARRSubScript version that I'm using is 1.10 which I found in this thread https://www.donation....msg152159#msg152159 .

24
Further to my previous posting I can now report that I think I have found what causes the error which I mentioned. After a process of elimination, I concluded that the error is caused by FARRSubScript.dll. If I disable it the Fspell plugin works with no problem. Perhaps now someone could fix it.
