Multi Photo Quotes / My problem with new version
« on: March 14, 2009, 02:13 AM »
*EDIT* Never mind...I figured out the problem.  There was a major issue with my display drivers (I was using the ATI drivers instead of the 3rd party ones) and after switching it out it's fine now...

Ok it must just be me since no one else has mentioned it....but anyways:
So the crop option causes the pictures to be cropped to full screen image size but only displays the portion of the picture that corresponds to it's cell size.

Post New Requests Here / Re: IDEA: Clearing up Windows temp files

I'm actually running XP now.  It really doesn't happen anymore unless my computer is on for >24 hours w/o restart.  But I found that the program would fix my computer anytime it started to bog down.

I understand that this description is a little vague but that's all I knew about it.  It's probably far more complicated than I realize...

Post New Requests Here / IDEA: Clearing up Windows temp files

So a long time ago (98 SE time frame) I had this interesting program that was nice but I cannot remember what it was called or anything...

So you know when your computer starts running slow b/c it's been a while since you restarted it or something.  Then you restart it and it works fine again.  Well this little program would do that without the restart.  Basically it would be an icon sitting down by the clock.  Then you'd right click it and it'd clear out all the files (or whatever) that Windows does when you restart...without the restart.  I'm not sure what it cleared or anything, but the computer would be running just as quick as if you restarted.  It wouldn't like restart any programs or anything, and it happened pretty much instantly.

Anyways, I think such a program would be quick to make and many people would find it useful....I know I would certainly appreciate it...

Multi Photo Quotes / Re: Scaling pictures instead of stretching
« on: March 02, 2009, 03:22 PM »
This is interesting, because I came here to report a similar problem.  Now that I've been using it a few days I'm noticing it is cropping some of the pictures on the left and right.  Similar to the way it used to before adding the "Crop Goal" option.  It does it on ~30%-50% of the pictures.  Most you'd never notice, but I notice it when I have a person near the edge of the picture will get part of their head cut off.  I haven't noticed it doing it to the top and bottoms at all.  It only seems to happen on pictures that are wider than tall (I do not know what the ratio is).  It will do it when it is a full-screen and when it is split into cells. It happens on both of the monitors also.

I have the same options set as the last post by Eisfux.  I am running 2 monitors of different ratios...not too sure if that matters or not. The main monitor is widescreen (1680x1050) and the other is standard (1280x1024).  They are also offset some, not directly lined up side by side.

I'm not too sure if any of this helps, and I know I provided excessive information (figured more was better than less).

That is so much better.  Thank you much.  I really kinda wish that it would use the space a little more efficiently but I can imagine that would be a royal pain to try to program.  It is great though...I probably will use it after a bit more tweaking...

Multi Photo Quotes / Scaling pictures instead of stretching

I love the concept of the screensaver and think it has a lot of potential, however I do have a slight issue.  I want to include my own pictures in the screensaver.  The problem is though that they are (mostly) large pictures.  The current options of stretch and crop do not work well for them.  The stretch will distort the aspect ratio which bothers me (sorry personal pet-peeve) and the cropping only makes about a quarter of the pictures look fine.  So my question is: Is there a way to stretch the pictures while maintaining aspect ratio (commonly referred to as scaling) with the current options or possibly an update?

So I downloaded a trial version of a dual monitor control panal type thing.  One of which was different pictures on each screen.  I got to looking how it did it.  It would take you screen resolutions and positions and make a large .jpg image.  It would then place the picture you selected for each in it's corresponding location.  Then it would tell windows to use that for the wallpaper.  If you looked at the image it was using there was just blank (white) space on the picture that corresponding to the spots not covered by a monitor.  It should be relatively simple to do such a thing on your own knowing that.  I plan on doing that once I get my second monitor back (my friend had to borrow it till he could get a new one)..
