Nir Sofer is probably God. Certainly one programmer I'd love to donate money to, but he doesn't seem to request any.

Nice! Seems the world is not short of Twitter clients. And there's even a widget for Opera browser.

5
I found Spaz here:
http://www.labnol.or...ftware-windows/2135/

Three very similar looking Twitter clients. I chose the one that looked coolest. 8)

6
Looks very nice, thanks for sharing. I'm currently using Spaz (Spaz loves me :-*), but ready try out others as well.

While trying to download blu the home page says: "There is a problem. It appears you do not have the correct software to run this download." The correct software being .NET Framework 3.5 which I do have.

BTW, where did this Adobe Air come from all of a sudden? A month ago I hadn't even heard about it, now it looks like every other program I'm downloading requires it. It's becoming just as annoying as .NET Framework.

Windows Vista: Why do people prefer it over a dual boot Xp and Linux?
I know the common reasons, I just want to make sure I'm not missing something crucial because it seems it should be a disaster but I read people using it.

Well, I haven't used either XP or Linux, so I can't say if Vista is better or inferior to those. All I can say, is that I've had Vista now for 1,5 years it has not crashed once.

I repeat that: Windows Vista has NOT crashed once in 1,5 years.

I have had no problems installing my old, favourite software (I still use Word 97 :)). No problems with drivers or peripherals.

Of course Vista needs lots of RAM and such. You can't install it on any old computer. That's what I've heard people complain about.

8
Are you trying to connect through a VPN or anything?

No. Tried all browsers, too. I feel so throttled.

Switzerland Homepage

I've tried to get to that address for two weeks now - without luck. http://www.eff.org won't open either. Any thoughts?

and... someone else's GetASFStream

Do you read Japanese, anne_r? GetASFStream is not at all easy to understand how to use.
[hint]Directions wanted![/hint]

No, I don't read Japanese and there is no English help. The basic usage is not difficult:
http://forums.afterd...read_view.cfm/161631

Paste the URL of the audio / video file in File - URL Paste - Add and click the red dot. The download starts.

One only learns to use this program by going through the menu and trying everything. Googling might help, too. Or Bablefish translation of the GetASF homepage.

The program itself is in English. In case someone wonders.

IS there anything that will download ComedyCentral video's?

I don't know about Comedy Central, but Mouser's URLSnooper and... someone else's GetASFStream make a great team in locating and downloading "difficult" video or audio files.

You might want to check out ProcessTamer. Written by none other than DC's own Mouser.
https://www.donation...proctamer/index.html

Thank you! I will certainly check it out.
I have just bought AnVir Task Manager Pro, which is a great tool for tracking processes, services, start-up programs etc. One of its features is to limit CPU usage of background processes when it exceeds certain level.

FYI: Just opened two folders, one with 50.1 GB and 49,905 files. The other with 17.4 GB in 4063 files. No hang ups or freezes no matter what hoops I put it through. How much RAM do you have in your system?

Thanks for testing!
I have 2 GB of RAM and I run Windows Vista HP. I tested a little bit of this and that, too, and found out that the program which uses all my CPU when ACB loads is in fact Norman Virus Control (well it came with the computer!). If I turn off the real-time scanning in Norman, ACB has no problem opening my download folder.

Other file managers (like PowerDesk or XYplorer) load fast whether Norman is on or off. So Norman and ACB don't like each other?

With all due respect for Opera fans, the new FF3 ahsomethingamigger brings bookmarking to a whole new age.
I have around 1,000 bookmarks and i find this new url box enhancement along with Foxmarks backup service to be an excellent solution to an essential part of surfing.

Opera 9.5x has all that! :P

I hope you can get whatever it is causing the freezing solved.

The freezing started all of a sudden. That's why I thought my ever growing download folder was the cause. Hmm...

For example Gmail works with Opera if I mask it as Firefox, which is silly.

Weird, GMail 2 works just fine here without any masking (maybe Opera is doing some black magic behind the scenes?)

I really had to look into this, and found out that my cookie settings were too tight. Now I allow all cookies, and Gmail loads perfectly in Opera! Great! Question: why did Gmail load OK, when I masked Opera as Firefox with the old & tight cookie settings? Answer: I don't know. :)

And ditto to all you wrote about Opera, Firefox and IE, Lashiec.

I have 2.27.018) And my harddrive is full of FARR plugins. :)

My only problem is that ACB tends to freeze while loading my Downloads folder. Then again, the folder is > 2 GB in size...
My main D/L folder is over 20 GB, and I access it a lot. I don't think I'll try ACB. :-\

I access my download folder a lot, too, so freezing is a problem. Any other file managers I have don't suffer from that.
I really should write to K. Papala about it. He's very responsive. Too bad he had to close down the original forum because of spam >:(

Can you live with *just* opera?

I can't either. Opera is my default browser, but at times I have to use Firefox. For example Gmail works with Opera if I mask it as Firefox, which is silly.
Firefox 3 is OK, but is loads very slowly. I have some extensions installed, but hardly ever use them :). Opera has all I need, and I've so grown into it I couldn't live without.

Digging a few clicks deeper hits this-

http://www.konradp.com/products/

Konrad Papala's AC Browser Plus is my favourite file manager. It has more features than I have yet learnt to use :).

My only problem is that ACB tends to freeze while loading my Downloads folder. Then again, the folder is > 2 GB in size...

My favourite YouTube downloader is Ashampoo ClipFinder. You can search many video portals (YouTube, Google, Veoh, DailyMotion etc) at a time or just one, if you prefer. You are presented with video thumbnails, and if you want to download something just right click it and select Download (really!). Also you can create new categories for your videos.

ClipFinder is free, but you have to register. Attention! Someone somewhere complained that he's been "spammed to death" after registering ClipFinder, but I have only received 2 mails / month max. and only because I wanted to get them. Anyway, you might want to use a throwaway address to get the registration key. Just in case.

Usually I find registering very tiresome and suspicious, but in this case I'm glad I did it. :-*

ClipFinder is for Windows 2000, XP and Vista 32.

Welcome Anne! :) Pull up a chair, make yourself at home!

Thanks! I feel like home already!
It's been a busy afternoon: made myself a font and such. :)

Hi.

My first post here.

Score: 15
Your IP is 89.166.33.179
89 is prime +5
179 is prime +10
(+15)

Your IP address as a poker hand:
Seven of ♣ Clubs
Jack of ♣ Clubs
Nine of ♣ Clubs
Two of ♦ Diamonds
King of ♦ Diamonds

You have nothing (0)
IP address as a colour (0)
The IP translates to Wednesday 30th August 2017 as a UNIX date (0)
This IP address as a phrase: land no mean cover (0)

My point on the map was near Antarctic. Arctic would have been closer.

I especially like that sentence: You have nothing (0). How do they know? :)
