hi,

i really must move my apps to be more friendly to translation and internationalization; i plan to do it, i just have to set aside some time to learn how to do it properly and then do it.

however i *think* it might be possible to add chinese text fonts to screenshot captor, without too much trouble; i will try to look into it and report back in the next day or two.  are you available to help test out the program if i try to get it to work?

i put up a little test, can you try it here:
http://www.donationcoder....ScreenshotCaptorFTest.exe

it can be installed on top of existing installation.

the only thing i added is a new little font "button" on the text; try that and see if it shows chinese fonts in it.
if so, see if you can select them and type with them in text boxes.

Hi,

I've downloaded and installed it. The Chinese fonts can be seen and selected, but the contents of Text objects still formed in Arial font. Maybe the font in Yellow-area didn't be changed into what i choosed?

What i typed in the Yellow area is the same as red-circle one's.

ok, that's too bad, i was hoping it would be as simple as adding a unicode aware font dialog.
i'll try to look into another way to solve it and report back.
thanks for testing.

hopefully we can find a solution to provide editable chinese/unicode text boxes.
in the worst case scenario i have a trick to make this sort of work using bitmaps.

SnapIt! or MWSnap may be used by most of the persons in Taiwan.
But if you can fix the font problem, it could benefit for the people of China, Korea and Japan.

Text object is very useful function for a screen-capture tool. There's no such capability of MWSnap or SnagIt!.

Why the Windows' fonts cannot shown in the fonts listing?

surely snagit can do this, can't it?

the problem is not listing the fonts, i could fix that - the problem is that the graphics drawing component that draws the text cannot.
i might try to fix it, or else i could make a kind of fix - i can make a special kind of graphics object which is really just text, but remember the text, so you would be able to edit chinese/japanese/etc text and it would convert it back and forth between bitmap and text.  actually maybe this would be also useful as a standalone tiny util, to let you type in some text and then convert it to a bitmap for use in other programs.

Thanks for your effort.

SnagIt!, MWSnap don't have these features.
If you've finished the DBCS(Double-byte Character System) problem, please let me test.

Thanks.

I have decided to implement my alternate solution for this - hopefully i will have a version that supports all such chinese, doublebyte, unicode fonts in a week or so.

I'm just about done with this; it will come as both a new feature in Screenshot Captor and also a standalone tool that i think might be useful for other purposes.

See here for more info on "Unicode Text-to-Image":

Unicode Image Maker is now available!
It is both a standalone tool and has seamless integration with Screenshot Captor.
It is my present to China and Japan and all other non-english countries who have supported DonationCoder.com

http://www.donationcoder....codeImageMaker/index.html

Let me know if it works ok for you - might take a bit of experimentation to learn how to use it smiley

something maybe helpful.
1. hypersnap & snagit can deal with chinese texts right. And faststone capture cannot.
2. screenshot captor: add texts cannot show chinese texts correctly, BUT, the LABLE with the Arrowed Line CAN SHOW chinese texts !

that is really strange.. i had no idea that the arrow text could do it actually.

I made Unicode Image Maker tool for making text boxes of this type; once you configure it to use from within screenshot captor you should see a button for it from the CLIP ART object button panel where you can easily create new text boxes that use chinese text etc.

note: the other thing about unicode image maker embedded text boxes is you can double click them from within screenshot captor to edit the text again.

I know that Unicode image maker can do it.
but the problem is that it always use a fixed size area (usually to big) for texts.
can user adjust that?
I means crop the unused space, not resize (that will make text not clear enough to read)
