If you're site isn't lucky enough to have talented people willing to contribute their time to make the perfect logo, you might consider hiring a company to design a distinctive logo for you.

I thought it might be useful to have a thread where people can post about different logo creating companies.

  • logoworks (http://www.logoworks.com/) seems to be getting some attention lately;  charging $300 and up it's not cheap, but it does sound like they are trying to run a serious and quality service.

anyone know any others?

I like this place as it gets some very talented designers trying to *win* your business:

There are a number of very talented artists that are willing to do freelance work if approached and asked over at Renderosity.

You'd have to get a free account and wade through the gazillion artists and view a lot of their work, but once someone catches your eye just send them a private message and see how they respond.

I have also seen people post logo design jobs over at rent-a-coder. So that might be a good place to find people to do a logo at a good price, too.

Freelance artists, coders, designers, etc. abound at http://www.getafreelancer.com/ and http://www.elance.com/ (the latter has the nicer system and probably higher quality talent in general).

you can always ask here smiley
it's been suggested that we set up a special forum section for donation based log design - keeping with our current approach to software.  the only difficulty in this case is that a logo is by design a private thing not available for the public, so that makes it different than writing freeware on request.

Hi again,
I dont want to make a bad start at this forum (in the terms of getting flamed for posting at the wrong thread.) Where should I ask?

we appreciate your intentions  thumbs up

best place to post is probably in our coding snacks section:
http://www.donationcoder....s/bb/index.php?board=71.0

post with informative info in the title, like: "Request for a custom logo design" or something like that, and explain as much as you can about what you are interested in and why, etc.

keep in mind that this site is not filled with graphic artists, but i suppose it can't hurt to ask right?
