Anyone seen these before?

I discovered it on LifeHacker and followed the lead to Aaron's  Blog which has a nifty install utility...

Anyway, that was yesterday, and today I'm still impressed with these cursors: they are easier on the eyes!

The semi-transparent and brightly coloured cursors meld into the background and jump to the front of the monitor - at the same time: it's fantastic.  Kiss

That's a lot more work than simply clicking a link, though... and since it's an image, you can't just copy/paste text to address bar. Also, the main page at the site looks like a placeholder, with no links to the cursors, so I had too google to get to the page.

I swear that link wasn't there yesterday tongue

Bad page design anyway, too easy to overlook the upper-right-corner part even if it's there.

Damn, I cannot open the mouse component in control panel.
This is what I get:

Any idea how to fix this? I'd love to test the new pointer.

urlwolf: do you, by any chance, have a recent Nero version installed? I've heard it b0rks the control panel for a lot of users.

Back to the topic: After a few days using the XsX Alphablended Cursors I realized that I'm missing the shadow under the cursors. The "Enable pointer shadow" option does nothing, I don't know why. Any idea?

However, I managed to add the shadows to the individual cursor files and at least for me they are visually more distinctive on the screen:

Anyone interested?

The hardest part was to find an application capable of editing or keeping the cursor hot spot. IcoFX, which is otherwise an excellent application, lacks this feature, but RealWorld Cursor Editor can do this, and much more, and it's freeware.

You had to go and point that out, didn't you..  Wink Now all I see is the missing shadow.. I'm interested in your shadow tweak of the cursors...

Here are the modified XsX cursors with shadows. I intentionally didn't modify the Text select and Precision pointer, as the shadow makes them a bit unclear. Just replace the originals and proceed the same way. Enjoy!

By the way, any idea why the "Enable pointer shadow" option doesn't work?

Nope. The only crappy program that interacts with others in bad ways is nvidia nview (controller for the video card, gets me shortcuts for flipping portrait/landscape; SFFS cannot live together with that; go figure).

Thanks

I'm running with the Entis Cursors now as well, and I think I'm gonna stick with them. First time in 5+ years I've used custom cursors... but they are lovely Kiss

It does not work with 32-bit RGBA cursors in XP. Fortunately, these cursors can have the shadow built-in.

In Vista it is even more messy.

@urlwolf

Did you google this issue up? ASUS' A8Jm Laptop users reported a similar problem.
